I bought a set of 17" e46 sportpack rims with tyres for 3,5k off gumtree. still looking for that ever elusive set of Contours though.

Hi there, i also own a E39 5 series.I really batteled to get mags for my car as the 5 series have a 20 "offset".Meanning the rim runs verry close to the shock and caliper.After breaking some bones and kicking some ass i found a nice 17" set with tyres at Autostyle Mayfair JHB.The whole set including tyres cost me R7500.00.But and a big BUT, it is a set of E36 mags in actual fact.I had to fit 6mm spacers between the hub and rim to ensure enough clearance.I had to get longer bolts to ensure none of my own tyres try to overtake me at 200km/h.Then alot of patience and will power, you have to ream each mag in the centre to get it over the hub resess.Remember little by little as you need the solid support of the hub resess to stabelize the complete wheel.You need to remove + - 1.7mm off at the centre of the mag and it needs to be 100% round.

Hope it helps as for getting a affordable set's is out of the question unless you have R18,000 to R25,000 SPARE!
