want more power out of 325

Hi. I have an e36 325... want to do some small modifications to get some power out of it. Any suggestions ?
Also, would the e36 3.2 m3 intake be compatible with the car and is it a good idea to install ?

I'm no expert brother and still learning, but as a starter, maybe look at getting M3 branches, a nice free flow and then a UniChip with a remap. Cone filters are mostly for sound.. Then maybe get the head gas flowed, bigger cams etc. Or if you not too worried about loosing some top end you could change the diff and get a short shifter kit for better acceleration. Ohja, and I've heard that it's quite a mission to fit the e36 3.2 intake and there isn't much gain from it, if I got any info wrong could some of the more experienced guys please correct me, thanks

Depends where you are. "Small mods" are a cone filter and maybe a better intake manifold. After that you start modifying the branches, exhaust, cams, tuning etc. Those are the real mods that will see you make more power. But once again, it depends where you are. If you're at altitude (JHB/PTA/Highveld) don't bother with small mods. You could get a piggy back system with better intake but it will be hard to see any gains as the problem you are having is the air up here at the highveld is thinner than at the coast. If you are at the coast, then you will see more gains from smaller mods and bigger gains from the bigger mods. I supercharged my M3. At the coast, with a 4 psi supercharger setup, I make 4 psi and 250kw on the wheels. In JHB, I lose 4 psi and am basically back to what a stock M3 is at the coast. I get 210wkw and max boost is 0.5psi. I have to spend more to mod up here. I need to run 8psi charger to effectively get 4psi on the car.

No such thing as cheap power. No such thing as small modifications for better power.

Sorry man.

We can do branches and a free flow system for you.

the gains will be small as "Crash" says though, and a lot more expensive mods would be needed to really see noticable gains

Branch a free flow alone, will make the throttle response "crsipier", and also change the tone, and if driven "normally" will also realize a small improvement on fuel consumption, but no vast power differences from branch and free flow exhaust only.

Thanks guys. Well I have a getrag 5 speed short shifter with m3 exhaust and branch. . . I have checked around for UniChip but some people are telling me that I'm just gonna hurt the motor in the future with it and I'm better off tuning the original ECU but im keen on the UniChip. Any idea how much power gain i can get from it ?
Another tuner also suggested that I try and get the m3 throttles for the car , any of u have experience with that ?
And what cams should I look at ? The car isn't a daily runner. Only used on weekends so i want most performance out of it , every day reliability isn't a major concern

in that case. Lightweight flywheel, M3 throttles, Cold air intake, aggressive cams, branches, exhaust, and better non restrictive intake manifold with a good tune to make the best from these mods. I would take the car to ROSS at RBTS racing. He tunes with Dastek UniQ and is really good.
i really appreciate the help but im from Durban. do you know of any tuners here ?

328 motor go for around R10K - probably the way to go

Headers, exhaust, intake kit, viscous fan delete, uniq. No need to fit a 328i engine.

Hurt the motor is bullshit plenty E36s running them, M3 throttles are a bit of a mission and work out really expensive in terms of the gains. Whats your budget like? Whats your power goals, you at the coast so no need to boost it.

There's a few guys in durban that can do this, where about are you?

M3 throttles
Shrick/Van der Linde cams
Gas flowed head
Lightweight fly
Short Ratio Diff
Chiplogic tune

And you have a nice little NA banger on your hands

Well I'm from chatsworth
And I'm looking to do these things over the next few months . Can't do it all at once so i was thinking about doing the chip first and from there I can look at the other stuff.. do you know of anyone that does chiplogic ?

Only got the car for about a month and a half . My power goal is about 160 to 180 kw on the wheel after all the mods by december.. or is that too ambitious ?

1. Service the car, 2. Intake, 3. Branches, or 3. Exhaust, or 3. Diff, (any order), 4. Viscous fan to electric, then if you really want to 5. Throttles, cams, head, 6. Chip or Falsh

Hey guys, don't mean to hijack but does anyone here have experience with the Van Der Linde cams? Any idea on what power gains they yield and what the price may be?

You want more power? Dont waste your time. You have 2 options

1. get a Supercharger fitted or

2. Get a 330i

What duration of cam would you recommend? Sorry for the hijack
