basically he says the golf R is the better car, more composed, better chassis but he'd choose the BMW because it suites his preference cause its rear wheel, manual and old school feel ... its pretty spot on ... the BMW would be more fun ... the Golf R is fun but also very clinical ... in a way allot of porsche influence in the car i think

Shit Chris Harris really likes the Golf R!
The gap between these cars are now very close...
Seems like vw is using the money from the record sales of vivos into proper Research and Development! Hence the Golf R is a good car... Easy to drive fast, like the GTI, and can flatter even a novice driver...

The Golf R is a problem.... To other cars, to people in the market deciding to buy in this price range as well! Problem! Problem car!
Edit to add: resale is a problem too! Golf R doesn't loose much in value!

Still.... my personal choice is the M235i raise:

Lol... Allot of the R&D is coming from Porsche... Apparently the suspension on the G7 GTI was designed by the guy that did the porsche GT3 setup

Golf 7R is a special piece of engineering.

Still couldn't buy one with my own money though

You still can't beat rear wheel drive, fun factor. But on that note you can still take a Gtr R35 sideways. A G7R is a nice car for the wife.
