Voltage Regulator - again!

:cry::cry::cry:

Not sure why I go through voltage regulators quicker than what I do services :argh:

Anyways, in need of a voltage regulator. If anyone has spare E90/E46 (N46) alternators laying around and has a spare voltage regulator to sell please let me know.

No one seem to stock only the regulator and want me to buy a complete alternator. I already have a spare, working alternator with worn brushes so I don't need another spare one laying around.

The part numbers are:

F 00M 145 285
F 00M 145 312

Any one of these regulators will work.

Help will be really appreciated

Apologies, it's a Bosch.

Also if it will help - I have the 150Amp Alternator.

A pic I took a while back of the 2 regulators as referred to in my first post.

Oh, and just also check that you are not leaking any powersteering fluid onto the alternator, that could also cause the brushes to go quickly.

Power steering not leaking...

Last night I wanted to check a bit and noticed that I start the car and the alternator takes about a minute before it kicks in. This is noticeable on the engine sound as well as on the meter when measuring the voltage across the terminals.

This morning while driving I was think why, because as soon as the alternator kicks in, I dont have an issue. So this points me to the V-belt tensioner pulley- it has been making a rattling noise on pull away, when I checked it seemed to have lost a bit of it's tension, so when blipping the throttle the tensioner will vibrate as the belt is pulling it. I'm now thinking, that as a result of this added vibration on the pulley and extra stress on the belt, the belt must have stretched somewhat. So my theory is as such, when starting, the belt is slightly slipping on the alternator pulley, but when the alternator gains full momentum after a few seconds of idling, the charge to the battery is restored.

Could I be correct in saying this?

You should be able to buy the regulator from the stealers......bought a Valeo regulator from the stealers for about R1650

Mastercraft Tool Kit you say

Car was sorted - replaced the Alternator with a new one from Diesel Electric and also replaced the oil filter housing seals that were leaking oil causing the volatage issue.
