Has anyone had any experience of the service provided by VAG Cafe. I am looking at a Forge intercooler and JB4 from them for my N54 135i

I have bought from them and also bought from local forum advertisers, i just prefer the forum advertisers as all the products i have bought have come with BACK UP SERVICE which means in the longer run i spend less time and money trying to extract the best performance from the product i bought.

Well they sell mainly VAG/VW products so they are forum advertisers on the various vw/audi forums.

OP shouldnt have any problems dealing with them.

My reply went right over your head... why would I support an external forum if i spend my time here on the fanatics portal and last time I looked Vagcafe wasn't apart of fanatics and neither did my bmw use vag parts... getting back up service for my bmw from a vag specialist is like a proctologist working on your heart!

The point trying to be made is:

Being a BMW specializing company you will get the best help and power extracted from parts bought via the forum advertisers which comes with loads of knowledge specific to BMW.

VAG Cafe are really good but so are our forum vendors such as Renzport. You will get really good service and support from them.

I guess mine went over yours too...

I learned this the hard way... Take the man's advice.

thank you NotionZa,

@Rodga, i specifically didn't mention any advertisers here but i did mention the advertisers at BMWFanatics as a whole because they are fundamentally obliged to offer above par service as they pay for the right to advertise and the right wasn't easily earned as well.

neither did i say anything poor about Vagcafe in the same reply or others.

I don't think anyone is saying vag cafe is crap...

What is being said is while they have some of the products, they don't necessarily have the expertise for the after sales service required when modding your bmw. That's where our forum Advertisers, who as Arbees pointed out, pay and put their name on line when it comes to backup service, are here to serve the forums members.

I personally wouldn't tune my bmw with a company that tunes VWS as it core brand. It's like servicing my bmw at a vw mech. But that's just me.

To the OP...wishing you the best with the upcoming tune, and looking forward to seeing a build thread.

To answer you question.

Yes, VAG Cafe is good. Shaun and team are excellent at what they do. While they do sell the BMS products for BMW's, their focus is on the VAG side. Im not saying that they dont know BMW's, just focused more elsewhere.

Advice:
For the BMW Upgrades you looking for, have a look through our sponsors. I can mention 2 names of the top of my head. Rennzport and Xcede. Both, are excellent at what they do. They can even supply, install, tune as well break records...

Search through the forum, there are plenty of guys buy who purchase directly from BMS and numerous other local vendors, but ask those same guys who they approach for help and support when things go wrong or when they need help and guidance with their tuning/fueling/logging. Sure purchasing the product and saving a few bucks initially is great, but personally i would rather support a vendor who i know will assist me and provide unbiased and knowledgeable insight...

just my 2cents...

I got my JB4 from Vag Cafe. Shaun's service is excellent. When I got my unit, I contacted a local advertiser on this forum to install. Despite me stating that I will be paying for the service, they refused. So this "service" that some of you mention went out the window.

I can understand why this was done.... So lets assume there is an issue on the car, who do you contact? The vendor who you purchased the product from, or the installer? Its a simple case of the vendor pointing fingers at the installer for incorrect installation, or vice versa where the installer is going to say you were sold a defective product...

I can say that because it happened to me, i thought my jb4 was faulty,i struggled for a few months thinking it was the unit and even went as far as posting it back to Terry at my own expense....all along the car kept throwing errors because i had a pinhole leak in one of the turbo vacuum lines

That could be due to warranty/guarantee problems...?

Most service providers prefer to install their own products.

You cannot expect an advertiser whose business model centers around the sale of aftermarket parts and the FREE aftersales support thereof to suddenly start offering paid support on hardware they did not supply.

Very few businesses operate like that and for good reason (i.e. warranty and quality concerns as mentioned above).

P.S. I've had my dealings with Revo and Shaun Mooloo in the past. Great chaps, great service....until something goes wrong.

I don't quite understand your first statement. If every company only fitted/installed actual products that they originally sold, many would be out of business today. (I'm talking all industries here)

I had a brand new sealed product that needed to be installed (was bought from VC because it was reasonably cheaper due to a pricing mix up). Yes, I understand the warranty concerns as stated above but if there was a problem with the unit, the supplier would have been contacted and if it was the installer, then they would have had to rectify it. I don't see how this would have been an issue.

The only reason I contacted the advertiser is because of their wealth of knowledge and being an active member who was going to pay for the installation, I thought it wouldn't be a problem.

Lastly, I'm not sure what your last point refers to. I know countless people who praise Shaun's service and after-care.

I disagree, it should not matter where to get the hardware from. Fitment is another ball game all together.

What if you purchase something second hand, will no one be able to assist with install?
