V8 M - E90/2 Etc. information

Hi Everyone

I have the V8 itch that needs scratching! I toyed with RS4/Lumina as an idea but after really thinking about it my roots are back with the brand that I know and Love.

Anyway, hit me with some information asseblief mense.

What am I looking out for?
Bearings, what mileage etc. is this a problem? I do see this appears to be more of an issue than the e46?!
What are the models that I am looking at? lets peg a budget at around 400k?

Just any information that you can throw at me really?

Also been looking at V8 M's, bearings definitely something to do if they haven't been done, I would say anything from 90K Km onwards if they haven't been done it would be top of the post purchase list to do.
Actuators are also an issue, however they only really come up post 100k km from what I've seen. Other than that add maybe 20-30% to E46 M maintenance costs and you'll have an idea of what to budget.
For R400K you can pick up a very clean 2009 model, try get a facelift if you can, just helps when it comes time to replace clutch as the clutch and flywheel if I recall correctly was changed on the facelift and now you can't get the pre-facelift clutch kit or something like that.
Will wait for the current and past owners to chime in as well.
Also, they seem to respond well to properly done exhaust mods and proper software, eg. Xcede. I see you at the coast but up here on the reef these mods I would seriously consider as stock V8's battle to get away from a healthy E46 M, have tried this once or twice with my E46.

I Bought a M3 E90 2008 with 62000km FSH at Agents, when must I do the Bearings.

The M3 does not have stock pipes on, any suggestions where I can find.

From someone that owns an M3 V8 for 5 years, get one. Simply is a very driver involved car with alot of feedback irrespective of your driving style. Dont buy one if you not prepared to spend on maintenance and preventative maintenance to keep the car in tip top reliable condition. Do the bearings.. Will cost around 30k with a new oil pump. Use an octane booster.. The car needs it. Get an m-dynamic. Get navigation. Get the exhaust done. You wont regret.

Detonation is a major cause of bearing failure on the e92 M3 and E60 M5.

Life's too short to worry about bearings knocks lol,Buy the E92 M3 and enjoy best car Iv owned to date !! Bearings was done by previous owner so I scored in that regard.

Someone did mention here that if you do plan on purchasing one the maintenance is abit steal in regards to Keeping car in tip top condition

Are you looking for a stock exhaust? Not 100% sure if that's your question pertaining to "pipes". Or do you want an aftermarket exhaust?

With regard to the big end bearings & opening the engine, if you want to check them, its possible to do so from the bottom end. I doubt there's a need to take the entire engine apart. Check for wear marks on each bearing and scoring on the crank.

With the mileage you currently on, I don't think its a pressing issue, however, it'll give you piece of mind thereafter.

I would do them hey, it's peace of mind. As soon as I buy a M car and specifically those in the S85/S65 category I do bearings no ifs or buts about it.

I don't know what it's been through no matter what the owners says.

It's R30 000 for assurance. I've done them on 3 M cars already and will continue to do so.

Worse thing is to lose a engine minimum R160 000 to fix
