Record broken with M6 which is way lighter than the M5 but well done

Hey Pravesh, this is a fantastic achievement from Cleo, really is no matter what car it was done with, it's the record. We at Xcede are gracious in defeat and look back with a smirk at the accusations that were thrown at us when we let the class by setting the bar initially. All the talk of gas, and checking if exit speeds line up have gone out the window now that another V10 has run the time. I really mean it when I say that competition is good, as it has just been proven in our record being broken. Now we will take a 2-pronged attack with an M5 & an M6 the next time we decide to go reclaim the record, and I'm pretty sure we will come up with more innovative ideas and get close to that time. Here are the official results:

I think you have misunderstood the debate as the initial argument was that Xcede quoted that the car had a stock interior yet the seats where changed out for much lighter seats with a possible 60kg saving. Assuming the difference between the weight of the M6 and the M5 is 80kg and the difference between the times is .3 seconds then the excede car with stock seats will theoretically run 12.2. Chiplogic has stayed quite about this record run as it was a tester to see what kind of power the Mickey Thompson's can hold. The software that was used was run of the mill software as offered to all clients and was not a very special track only map as Xcede claimed it used. There is more power to be made on that car so I guess we will soon be seeing a better time. I also think we will start seeing big improvements in all tuners times as winter starts to set in with the drop of intake temperatures. I would really be proud if anyone in SA manages to get a N54 in the elevens and my guess is that Xcede will get it first as they are the only ones concentrating for track records.

George. That is unequivocally incorrect. Nobody said the car ran with stock seats. Maybe you assumed that, but I did not state that anywhere. that is 100% incorrect and I implore you to find the post and retract that statement when you see that our statement made no mention of seats.

Seeing as we on this point, i see the other M5 ran 188 trap and 12,4 with the same amazing customer map and tyres. And I can see on the videos that he hooked up pretty well.

Which leads me to my last point. the difference between the cars was weight. We can all argue the specs from EU unladen mass from many websites. But it would be better if we get a magazine that actually did a shootout between the cars and weighed them on the same weighbridge.

Well George, this was done by none other than Road & Track at their test facility and they found the M6 to be 111kg lighter and it trapped 3mph quicker than the M5 in their test. That's almost 5km/h more than the M5.

So Georgie, you ready for this.

We trapped higher than Cleo with an M5. into a headwind. Cleo had a tailwind. So I think you and I both know we are making significantly more power with this map (which Shaan drives everyday on pump fuel BTW). And the reason for the better time was the weight, not power. Do you agree?

Firstly, you do not have to speak to me like you a attorney. Secondly, if you take the time to read my post instead of glancing through it you will read that I have in fact stated that the difference in trap time was due to weight. Thirdly, I stated that the purpose of the whole exercise was to test the tires and see what kind of times will be run. What will happen next is I will run a completely stock V10 on the Mickey Thompson with full interior and then we can gauge what the true gains of the Mickey Thompson's are.

I am not aware of how the other M5 ran or what rpm it was reved to therefore I cannot make comment on that.

You can read this post here: http://www.carforums.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14785&hilit=m5+world+record in regard to the stripping of the car. Maybe people have to directly ask you in future if there was any weight reduction so my bad you didn't unequivocally say that the interior was stripped as it was full. Full of lighter seats which according to my books gave you a 80kg gain that you did not mention although it was relative. But hey, nobody asked.

Sweet so we agree. We trapped higher with a 111kg heavier car.

No need for that. Gotham City's M5 already ran with MT's. And he ran 12.4 @ 188. Last time he ran 12.5. So we know what the Mickey's do. Maybe they help more on a lighter car as the traction gets worse, who knows.

Buy the DVD when it's out and you will see he used launch control and so was revved to redline every gear. Same as what Shaan did when he ran 11.9 with the same tyres.

I don't see where I said the car had stock seats. Nobody asked. I'm not going to volunteer information. Just like Cleo won't volunteer what headers the M6 had and what exhaust, diff, throttles it had. Nor do I care what it had. It is the record for now with whatever it had, good for him.
