Don't just buy the cheapest one you find. Have it checked out by someone who knows these cars, and more importantly works on them. If the seller does not want anyone to take the car to someone reputable to have it check....rather walk away.

Try getting one on motor plan if possible or get a good warranty that can pay for unforeseen breakdowns and you can cover the shortfall.

Good luck bud:thumbs:

Where you based bud?

You welcome to give me a call for any advice. Truth be told, there's a lot of information scattered across this very forum, although it can be daunting looking for it at first.

Main thing is, get the history of the car and check the logged data on the actual car. I can assist with the second point, if you are close to the east Rand area or you can get the car to me.

im also considering getting an E92 M3..is there anybody in CT who can do this for me? check the data. It would probably be from a dealer. I told myself i wouldn't get 1 as i was annoyed that i would have to buy it & then take it in to get bearings done as i see this as a flaw & most probably won't even be able to neg. on this point as well. I come from two e46 330i individuals & they have been pretty reliable over the years..very reliable. I was planning on a e90 330i drop top but the M has always been my dream so i should probably just do it.

Also, be sure not to take too long when you find the right car. You may take too long and the car will be snatched up from under you and you'll be bitter forever :fencelook:

And do not trust MP comments, sometimes they delete comments!
And sometimes cars that were in massive accidents show as no comments on mplan (don't ask me how these guys do it... Sure some exchange of money happens for this to happen)

Not necessarily. They usually get them repaired at unapproved repair shops so BMW have no knowledge of it.. Even BMW dealers do this; I've witnessed it.

The E9x M3 is an epic car but very costly to repair when things go wrong. If you buy one out of MP, a R100k emergency fund is a requirement IMO.

I would rather put that R100k towards a preventative maintenance fund. Anything serious that breaks on an M3 is a lot more than R100k, the motor specifically, so rather fix known issues with that money before something grenades that can't be fixed affordably.

If you buy one that has been well maintained and looked after you got nothing to worry about. These cars are tough and special. I know I got one and touch wood no problems. Any BMW that has been cared for will last a long time.

"Any BMW that has been cared for will last a long time." i disagree with this statement.
Bearings jumps to mind,lol...they jus don't care how nicely you look after your motor, they go sooner or later :tiptoe:
