Hi Guys

Once again I need some help. My car just went into limp mode. I got no turbo at all. No lights came on, no smoke, just no power. I heard a winding noise from engine bay, just parked car off now.

I need some advice on what to check for. We are gonna run a Diagnostics now to check but just in case we miss something.
any help will be highly appreciated

will check that asap
Thanks

Just an update.
We discovered pink/red liquid all over the engine bay. Not sure if the water pump or the turbo packed up. I did the turbo at 184k and now the car is on 265k.
I know the car can go into limp mode if the water pump failed but is there any way of checking this without stripping it?

I am not so clued up on cars
any advice will be helpful

The bleed process will also get the water pump to turn on, follow the following steps if you are electric pump:

Fill expansion tank slowly with the 50/50 coolant mixture.
If bleed screws were opened, close each as the coolant begins to come out of the bleeder.
Once the bleeder on the expansion tank (if equipped) is flowing coolant and has been closed, fill expansion tank to the lower edge of the filler neck.
Install the coolant cap.
Connect a battery charger to the battery or jumper cable ports under the hood.
Turn ignition to the ON position. If equipped with a START button, push button (with key fob installed or active), but do not depress the brake or clutch pedals. This will turn the ignition on, but not crank the starter.
Set heater temp to MAX and blower to low speed.(Speed 1)
Press the accelerator pedal to the floor for 10 seconds.
The self bleeding procedure will begin (via the electric water pump) and will run for about 12 minutes. During this time the water pump will alternately turn on and off. check coolant level and adjust as required. Replace coolant cap.

this should help you eliminate the waterpump...

Hey guys.....

thanks for all the advice and knowledge. Still not sure what it is. I saw the water light come on, water level was empty. So parked car off until this morn to check. I think it might be the water pump. Will keep you guys posted.

I hope it did not overheat :(

it is a good idea to use BMW coolant only as it is specially formulated for the metals and plastics found in the engine preventing rust and making the plastics last longer

it is quite a bit more than your normal cheap coolant in the spares shop but you dont need to change coolant often so worth investigation in the right stuff

Just an update

The water leak was caused by a damaged exhaust thermostat and then we discovered that my turbo also was damaged and thus leading to a heavy bill to get her back on the road.
So she is sitting pretty waiting on parts.

Its unlucky but glad it was discovered before my trip to Durban this month.
