Tyre Replacement Choice

Howdy All,

Advice required please...still on the hunt for a good bang for buck tyre choice and kept all my options open! Currently my 335i is sitting on the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 RFTs with the rears pretty much gone!

Now I've been looking at Non-RFTs purely based on everyones opinion on how much better the drive and grip is without RFTs but was always concerned around not having a spare or mobility kit. But today I found a long lost friend who has a BMW mobility kit with the gloves, compressor etc etc and is giving it to me at a steal

So all of a sudden my Non-RFTS have become a reality!

Any recommended tyres are good price? The 2 Im currently looking at are the Continental Sport Contact 5s and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2

Price wise they pretty on par! Conti's I'm able to get a set for R8800 and the Goodyears for R8700

Curious to hear opinions and reviews from fellow members!!

Close your eyes and buy the goodyears... I am on my second set for my rears and each set has given me about 25000 km and that's with a stupid amount of torque going to the rear wheels... I don't drive my car slowly either and it comes out the blocks clean and straight...

Wet weather grip is phenomenal as well and the side walls are pretty strong for non rft as I experienced a wooden pole across the road last year that I hit at 130km + with no damage to the tyres but the rim buckling quite badly.

You may get cheaper bang for buck Tyre's out there but I will definitely buy them again and again...

That is a good good price.

I have infront of my the lastest price list on theose tyres, and average direct from supplier to me, the basic cost (without VAT or "mark-up" etc) is already around the R8200 region
with VAT my basic cost is around R9200, then no add on for profit added yet.

must be "old stock" at old prices, as I have about 5 different suppliers email me the price increases from mid-march already

Trust me, you will be disappointed with both tyres....the grip is bad of both under dry condition...the Bridgestone is much better!

Why dont you get a bridgestone non rft?

Seems to cause I think Bridgestone's are crap and the contis are awesome

Had Contis on M3E46 and CSL...Crap! No grip at all...

pressure was set and everything fine...

I just bought 19s conti and yes the grip is crap. Slides on corners or small potholes

I had the Goodyear F1's fitted to one of my previous cars, has to be about the best tyre Ive ever had.

Cars after came from factory with the Bridgestone RFT's, the Conti RFT's, Pirelli RFT's and Michellin non RFT's, non of them came close to the F1's in terms of grip.

Only downside to them is the mileage u get out. I got no more than 30k kms off the rears.

Thanks ALL! Can officially say Im the new owner of a brand new set of Goodyear Eagle F1s! Looking forward to gettin them fitted and testing the RFT vs Non RFT

Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 are very nice tyres. I have them on my car and I love them. I have runflat though. If I get non runflat the next time round will buy as I have a space saver as well which I lug around as well.
