Guys, NONE of the tickets written under AARTO generates revenue towards the Metro Police!!
We get our money from Parking tickets, Parking meters, Special events like Rugby games at Loftus, Cycle races, marathons, Hawkers licences under the Bylaws enforcements, and also a part of the licencing fees ou pay yearly is allocated to Metro Police.
Serious question...
So an Aarto ticket that is sent from Metro Police does not generate income for Metro Police? Where does the fine money go to? Reason I ask, I have seen the Carte Blanche and 3rd Degree exposes on JMPD and their unethical practices and every single one said the fines (including Aarto fines) generate money for the municipality which JMPD is part of?

Ok, by what I understand ALL the money goes to AARTO. We get a government grant to buy cars, uniforms, equipment, but he ticket/fine you pay, all goes to AARTO.

Coisman....AARTO is an act. Not an entity. its like people who say they will go to the CPA for when a store rips them off. They cant. Its an act.

P.S. not trying to be a smart @ss. :=):

I know that, and its run by the RTMC - Road Traffic Management Corporation, its just easier to speak about AARTo as if its an entity, cause that way I dont have to reference the RTMC every time. :thumb:

Just called a contact at the metro (the one I live in). He says that all fines issued by the municipality's traffic officers go to their (the municipality's) coffers. AARTO or otherwise. Fines issued by the provincial government traffic officers go to their coffers (province). he says RTMC is funded by government as doesnt make money off fines generated by municipality or province.

Mmm... will also then follow up from my side...
:thumbs:

Either way....back to topic...I think the OP should ignore fines until they are served to him in the legal way via registered mail as they are not legal until that happens.

Just got confirmation from S/Supt. Van Wyk here by us, that is incharge of the AARTO here by City of Tshwane Metro Police...

We get 50%, and RTMC gets 50% of the full penalty that is paid.
So if the fine is say R1000, and the discounted amount is R500, and you pay the R500, then each side gets R250.
But if you laps the 32 days grace, and pay the R1000, then each side gets R500.

That should be clear enough. :thumb:

Will take your word over my contact at the monkeypality. :rollsmile:

But the fact remains then....these fines are revenue generation for the JMPD and monkeypality.

Thanks for the info Cois and confirming that info for us, even though thats pathatic for them to do, whats worse is that i bet most of that money goes to corrupt high ranking officials under the table.
