You will get it eventually I got R250 in kzn for doing the same speed I think it was 96kmh in a 80kmh zone you can pay the pigs through post order no worry, they even send a receipt back to you .the best is still to come after you have paid the fine keep it in your car as the traffic pigs incompetent data captures don't always remove them and when you get to a road block and they scan the plates they will stop you

Sorry coisman you don't count as a traffic pig as you are a bmw driver.

You'll probably get wacked about R500.00...I racked up just over R5000.00 in one week recently, cops dropped the speed limit from 100 to 80, stuck a whole lot of 80 signs up all over the place, the road that starts out as Swartkoppies in Alberton, going through Brackenhurst towards Walkerville, the lowlifes manned their cameras big time, cost me a fortune.....I KNOW where they sit now.....and have a plan....

Man I just don't know.
I am not sure that by calling a whole traffic enforcement body "pigs" really adds value.

Sure there are some bad apples as is the case with the whole of society.

Just saying.......

My apologies man obviously they are "pigs" for having the audacity to speed trap you when you were travelling at 140 in a 120 zone.

Don't forget to adjust for your speedo's overestimation :fencelook:
I believe it can show something like 10% above actual...

Yup, checked my 330i with a GPS, speedo showed 128kph, GPS says 120.....they all overread, so at 142 indicated you will probably get wacked for 134......still gonna make your eyes water a bit.....
BTW, I also find it VERY difficult to ride at speed limits.....in a car that can do 250.....

Now I am probably going to get flamed for this.

But I say ignore it and leave it alone.

I have about 15k in unpaid fines, its not something that I am proud of at all, but I have several cars in my name, and my darling wife loves the 80 in 60 zone stuff,

I have also had a couple of whappers which is lock away stuff actually.

Recently when I renewed my license, I had about 3k in past due summons and so forth, I went and paid those, got my licensed issued.

My theory is this, if they are checking for overdue/past summon's, its usually at a manned roadblock with a pay point at the side of the road, and I will then pay my outstanding warrents only.

This may seem irresponsible an unlawful, but I have a distinct disrespect for the law when it comes to road safety, not because of traffic enforcement, I believe its exceptionally important, and I have a respect for the boys in blue.

But goverment has turned road safety, as well as every other aspect that touch our lives into their own profit center, it is no longer about protecting road safety and the public, its about money, yours, and they want it....

AARTO is a perfect example,

These discounted fines are bullshit, its absolute extortior.

Here is an R1000 for a minor traffic violation, but wait, if you pay us within 30 days, we will forget about the seriousness of you doing 126 in a 120 zone, just pay us some money...

Then lets not even get started on the bribes.....

ANyway, I am a bad example, so I will stop rambling,

But my advise is, wait for the summons, and until then do nothing, do not go and chase the fine, no not go an inquire, if you get a hand delivered summons, pay it, until then, dont..

Really.....probably not a popular comment as we have a cop on the forum, but why not wait for the ticket to come (via registered post)? If not, then forget about it. :=):

I can agree to disagree with this...

I say, when you get a ticket, be it via registered mail or not, GO AND QUERY IT!!!

Since when is it the citizens responsibilty to run after the government to pay them money? The fine MUST come via registered mail. That is the law as far as I know. If it doesnt, the government has not done its part and therefore should not be "rewarded".

Agree with everything you said. But arent you only allowed to be arrested at a roadblock for an warrant of arrest and not overdue fines? That said, I would also just pay to avoid prison despite it being an unlawful arrest.

I have to agree about what Leonard said about the "law" using there Metro system as a source of revenue, it is utterly disgusting, majority of Metro dont give a shit about road safety and the well being of the road users, as i have witnessed many times how they put innocent people in harms way.

I dont agree with drinking and driving but i was once in Lauduim and this SAPS van was infront of me driving like a complete nut and hogging the road, i got pissed and overtook, which i dont usually do in a residential area, only to find that as i passed, this moron was casually sipping on a Windhoek and chatting on his cell, as i passed he looked at me as if "what the f*ck you gonna do" i was tempted to take out my cell and snap some shots but my wife advised me not too as if he sees us he might harass and cause unneccessary problems.

On church street, this moron metro, speeds onto an oncoming lane toward our direction, he missed the car infront of me an spun outta control, endangering lots of people, everybody stopped for him, as he pulled of, his partner and he were laughing outta control. WTF.

Beside that, i have had many other experiences.

Im sorry to say, but i have no respect for the man in Blue or whatever colour they are, most of them did not intend to uphold the law and the pledge they made to the country means nothing to them. I know all of them arent as bad but in my eyes the good is out weighed tremendously by the bad and for that, i have to paint them with one brush.

For the 1s that are good, I do salute them - if they are any out there, i have yet to meet them!

Thats just my opinion guys, do not burn me for it.

Guys, NONE of the tickets written under AARTO generates revenue towards the Metro Police!!
We get our money from Parking tickets, Parking meters, Special events like Rugby games at Loftus, Cycle races, marathons, Hawkers licences under the Bylaws enforcements, and also a part of the licencing fees ou pay yearly is allocated to Metro Police.
