Toolbox question: Am I being thick?

So I changed my sparkplugs the other day, partly using the spark plug
tool in the trunk kit.

My question is, am I using the supplied rod correctly. Its the only thing
I could find to fit it - to use as a turn leverage piece (see pic).

Is this correct or did I just win the "smacktard" award?

Correct use IMHO .
You can get a Gedore socket that fits over the spark plug and you use it with a normal 1/2 inch drive ratchet and extensions etc .

Great, nothing worse than thinking you're doing something right when you get a "Wtf" from others *lol*.

Oh, on the topic, wanted to ask, are spark plugs similar to sump plug, in that you have to replace the "crush ring"/washer every time you remove it?

If I wanted to remove a new plug and re-seat is, can I just unscrew it, or must I replace the plug/washer?

Lol, that tool that you are using as a handle is actually a wheel locating pin, used to relocate the wheel on the hub. Stick the grey part into a wheelnut hole at the top and slide the wheel onto the pin, wheel will then be correctly located for easy installation of the wheel nuts.

LOL, I was wondering why the "handle" was moulded in such a weird way.... still, it does work ;)

Haha, there's your WTF :) Don't worry, I didn't know either. I know about the centering rods, but I don't have one in my car.

You could push the screwdriver in your toolkit through the hole in the top of the plug spanner to loosen the spark plugs
@ freerider top marks for the wheel locating pin tool
@ hellas if you have a new generation BMW with run flats you wont have that item in your tool kit
