Ticking valve noise on my 2008 z4 3.0l si Coupe

Yes, done some searches but would like to know what is the best way to go about this.
Done it 3 times on start up in the last 3 weeks.

Anyone else tried this below method!

Part 1: Keep the RPMs at 2000 or above during normal driving, with routine gear changes in a higher RPM range (above 5000 RPM). You are able to easily accomplish this, even around town, without violating any laws. Result: no lifter tick, at all, for months.
Part 2: Purposefully drive at lower RPMs. Within a few days, the tick was back. It magically vanished as soon as I returned to the higher RPM driving style.

Common Issue

this is due to hydraulic valve lifters.
Get some Liqui moly Hydraulic lifter additive, about R199 , fill your tank and go for a nice spirited drive keeping revs above 2000rpm.

problem is we don't drive these cars often enough so unfortunately this is one of the issues we all have, lifters are not adjusted accordingly and doesn't like short drives.

On the 1st ticking event I changed the oil and filter.
Must admit some of my drives are short trips as I'm in a very small town.
Think I will try this keeping RPM always a bit higher.

As Momo1 mentioned, well known issue.

I used LM Ceratec on mine, seemed to work while running the treated oil.

As soon as you get going... and get the oil pressure up, the ticking goes away. I wouldn't do anything too crazy to get rid of the noise... get the car up to temperature before you hammer it, and the just keeps the revs up a bit until it stops ticking. the only real cure is to not leave the car standing for too many days between drives.

Drain your oil.

Buy SAE30w or SAE40W mineral oil
Buy ATF Dexron II will do

Put half ATF half SAE30/40

Drive the car for 500kms not exceeding 4000rpm
In between drives allow to idle for 30 minute stretches.

Drain the oil
Replace oil filter

Fill up with 5W40 from a reputable brand such as Liqui Molly Shell Castrol.

If you do it let us know the results

Only done about 200 km on new oil and filter, might give it a go next time. Done 3-4 small trips keeping the RPM a bit higher, will see if this will help!
