I see no reason why you can't start a few non-official BMWFanatics events that side.

See what the response is like before you try making official events. Will take some time to get going.

This is a great idea... How about having a cars and coffee type of event? Just a chill, get to each other event. Its easy, choose a coffee shop at a shopping centre, go and speak to the centre management to cordon off some parking and have coffee at the coffee shop.
