Hi

I currently have the E90 MSport with the 18" rims and considering upgrading to the F30 MSport. I love the 19 rims on the F30 but am concerned about the hardness of the drive.

With the suspension improvements, will the F30 19" give a harder drive than my E90 18"?

Thanks guys

I've never owned a E90, been in them but never took note of the suspension, but I've owned a GTI 5 and 6, 5 had 18"option wheels, and 6 had the Helios 19" wheels, I can tell you that my F30 with 19" RFT has a smoother and softer ride than the Golf's even with my new mags, no complaints.

The F30 is far smoother and you feel almost nothing when going over uneven roads etc.
Having had both, I actually prefer driving the E90 :fencelook:

Hey dude

I was fortunate enough to have driven/owned every 3series out there. (happy face) including the current F30.

The new F30 is worlds apart from every other 3series introduced IMO.

It has evolved into the most stable family/stylish sedan IMO.

I have two F30s both riding on 19s and the ride is superb. Theres no bumpy harsh rides like the E90 where every bump was felt in my heart.

The designers took the feedback from the E90 and built that consideration into the F30.

Now im not saying you wont feel bumps in a MSport F30 , what I am saying is that it has drastically improved from the previous generation aka E90.

Best is to drive a F30 and base your view from there. IMO you wont go wrong with a F30.

Thanks

Hoping the dealer has a MSport with 18" and 19" available for test driving.

I drove the 435 last weekend with 19" RFT back to back with my E93 335 with 18". 435i has 225/40/R19 and 255/35/R19 while 335i has 225/40/R18 and 255/35/R18. So I would say the profile is comparable.

The 435i with 19" RFT rides like the E90 I driven with 16" RFT. In Sport+ mode, the 435i ride quality is stiffer but still better than my E93 with 18" RFT. I expect the F30 ride quality to be as good as the 435i.

Just got back from test driving the F30 with the 19" and I was impressed. Was planning to drive one with 18' but didn't bother. Drive was extremely smooth compared to my e90 18". I've gotten so use to "feeling" the road and couldn't with the 19"

I found the grip to be a lot less though as if the car wasn't lowered and with the steering feeling more loose, I felt less confident driving the car at high speeds.

That is because it has electric steering it does stiffen up as you drive faster so it has intelligence in terms of how much grip is needed.

After I got my new electronic steering rack installed on the F30 and JSN re-adjusted the front and rear suspension my car is as smooth as silk.. I have 18" stock wheels though.. Steering on the car is perfect now and the ride excellent.

Had an E90 with 17" and Sport suspension and an E90 with 16" normal suspension. The F30 feels way better than both those!

That's great news. I also had my suspension adjusted on my E93 335i with 18" and wheel alignment done. All under motorplan. :praise:
