THE BOLD NEW FACE OF SPACE

Seen here in xDrive M60i guise, the new X7 represents another bold innovation in style and presence for the brand. A combo of exclusivity, exceptional dynamics, luxurious space (as the caption suggests) and versatility.

We can look forward to the following upgrades over the pre-LCI:

The new-look, encompassing all aspects of BMW's current design language.

New generation iDrive OS with BMW's brand new curved display, elevating the cockpit.
New M Sport & M Sport PRO styling packages, including (for the first time ever) optional 23" alloys.

The new X7 is set to launch by August 2022 in the following variants:

BMW X7 xDrive 40d (B57) - 3.0 I6 Twin-Power Diesel, 259kW/352hp & 720Nm/531ft-lb
BMW X7 xDrive 40i (B58) - 3.0 I6 Twin-Power Petrol, 280kW/380hp & 540Nm/398ft-lb
BMW X7 xDrive M60i (N63) - 4.4lt V8 Twin-Power Petrol, 390kW/530hp & 750Nm/553ft-lb
Each variant also receives BMW's new 48V mild-hybrid system, via a crankshaft-mounted starter-generator integrated into the front section of the standard eight-speed automatic gearbox.

What are your thoughts on this new "behemoth" in BMW's SUV line-up?

I am so glad that I am not in this market segment.

I hate everything about this car except the mechanicals.

The interior is horrid, if I wanted a 50" TV screen in front of me I would be sitting in my lounge.

The exterior is nauseating, especially the front end. The huge grill, discombobulated angular lines and split headlights are just terrible. From the side it looks like an English bulldog that just ran face-first into a wall.

Not that I'd ever be in the segment I think the target market will like the screens and all the rest of that auto-functionality taking control from the driver.

But I really, *REALLY* cannot see how this is a step forward in terms of design. I thought the new M3/4 was awful but if this is BMWs intended design direction they're pushing the limits of taste to another level. No doubt the benteyga/G class crowd will gladly buy these though.

Looks like a KIA, it's hideous.
And those screes look like it was pasted on the dashboard, and not a fan of the dials.

Problem with these sh**ty designs is they grow on you after a while.

I didn’t like the new 4 series grille, after a while started to like it …..M4 please…..

I come back to look again every few hours to see if my view has changed. And it has. The front end of this car is, Fiat Multipla aside, the single worst piece of automotive design I have ever seen.

Can anyone tell me how the new flat panel Kmbi is viewable in full sun. Current models have the dash curve over the display so you dont get dazzled with sun and smash a trolley. With NO cover at all over the display whats to stop terrible reflections from blinding you?

I'd imagine the screen has been coated with some sort of matte-nonreflective surfacing.

Apparently the next 7 series will have the same split headlight design. Maybe the design will grow on us as most BMW designs usually eventually do.

I don’t get the drama, other than the headlights there is very little polarizing about the design. Quite conservative actually.

There's always drama with every new BMW that is launched.
