Tar and Carbon on Alloys

Hey guys,

What do you suggest, other than taking the wheels for full refurb, in order to get the tar and carbon off the alloys?

I used Meguiars Hotwheels this morning, and it works ok...but the problem is that the dirt is so badly caked on that I have to scrub like a mofo to get them only kinda clean.

Should I get an acid based solution, or what do you all recommend?

Thanks :)

Try some sonax wheel cleaner or iron out something or other. Check on crazy detailer for the latter

2 things I would try, both have worked for me on different wheels in the past.

1) it's called pink stuff ( lol) basically comes in a tub and like a jelly. Can either be pink and sone places sell a green one. Apply and leave 5 minutes, may require some light scrubbing.

2) There's a tar remover available from Auto Finesse. ...works like a bomb. I know Moe@crazeyridez stocks it.

Hope you come right.

Just make sure once you get them spotless to wax them again otherwise you'll face the same problems. I was using apc to clean my wheels and neglected to wax them after. Stuff stuck like crazy. Worth the 5 mins per wheel to wax them after. Saves alot of time in the long run.

Anyone care to post a video on obliTARate actually working.

I have some tar spin spread on the barrel of my wheels, which are pretty well maintained.

I have tried lots of elbow grease, and some products.
Neither seems to really work.

It seems i would have to use a full bottle on just one wheel, with a crap load of elbow grease.

I am after something that can be sprayed on/wiped on and dissolves the tar, light agitation and a power wash thereafter.

I don't want to use anything caustic or acidic so your wheel-safe suggestions are welcome.
