Suspension knocking noise

Hi guys... I've noticed a slight knocking noise at low speed over bumps that seems to be coming from the front left suspension. The wheel alignment is fine and I've driven at highway speed (and beyond) and the car still rides smooth and straight. I did some reading and someone with a similar sounding issue found that it was some suspension bushings or something to do with the anti-roll bar mounts. Anyone exerience anything similar?

The car is still under 'plan, would it be covered by that?

And cost/effort to replace those?? Do you reckon motorplan would sort it out?

M/P will cover it. Just insist they have it fixed.

MP will cover it.. just complain and if possible take the workshop manager out with the car so that they can also hear it! :thumbs:

We have a knocking noise on our E60 as well, unfortunately we don't have motor plan so it's a bit of a trial and error situation. Let us know what ends up being replaced in the end:thumbs:

Just want to say :ty: !! It was the front control arm bushes. Booked into Auto Alpina, they sorted it out under MP. They usually issue an invoice to show you how much it would have cost but I didn't get 1 this time. The car's handling so much better now... much more feel on the steering wheel, and the knocking noise is gone. :thumbs:

Hey guys,

I just had my steering rack changed on thursday due to some power steering issues but now i noticed that when driving on the N1 today and going over joins in the roads(slight bumps at around 130km/h) the car feels like a big truck passed closely and the back seems to sort off "twist". The main feeling however is like a big truck passing you on a windy day.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance :=):

Glad you got this sorted out! As far as I know, the Z4 chassis is very much based on the E46, so this is a relatively common thing to happen, and at this stage there are plenty of out of motorplan third party options available for future that are not too terribly expensive.

I had the same thing after I changed the rear tyres on my 1er... know exactly what you're talking about! I actually sold the car before sorting that out though, but my guess is that it's something small... maybe just wheel alignment or something?

Hi there,
I have the same problem. But mine started after I changed my rear tyres (19inch 265). Did you find the fault?
