strange on Start up

So lately I noticed, in the mornings, and some afternoons, when I start my car I have to press the start button, sometimes 3 to 4 times.

Car will be two years old in November, and has 37 324km on the clock, could it already be the battery?

Its going in for a service on Friday, will ask them to check it out as well. Any thoughts?

Battery is easy to determine at local battery center. Gloplugs?

If the engine isn't turning when you're pushing the button it could be the actual start/stop switch... I personally am not a huge fan and have heard from a few people these sometimes die out and need to be replaced... lucky for you, you have MP, so get them bastards to check it out... The battery in my car only lasted just over two years... so could be that as well

The very fact that you are getting a crank 3-4 times doesn't sound like the battery at all.

Maybe once ignition is on, try waiting 4 or 5 seconds before you start the car and see if its better.

My bet is also glow plugs. They tend to take allot more strain in the winter and lose allot of oomph during this time.

For the life of me I cannot remember - does the 320d have some sort of glow plug indication before starting? Diesels battle to start in these cold conditions...

My car does not have functioning glo-plugs anymore, sleeps outside in close to zero degree weather by the time I start it, and it has never not started like clockwork.

A flat or discharged battery will swing the motor slowly and then not at all . If the motor swings ok at each starting attempt then there is an electronic problem like glow plugs etc or mechanical like timing .
Let the dealer check .
