Straight swop 2005 2ld X3 manual for 2006 E60 523 auto

Can swop my X3 for E60 523i auto. No cash adjustment either way. Car in question looks very good and drives very well. I am used to my 530d torque but was pleasantly surprised at the get up and go of the 2.5l 523i. Car is in need of aircon regas but has new tires all round on some nice replica M/s rims in good condition. Bodywork is very nice. Cannot get vin decoded, only tells me the year and engine size, etc., but no specs on the equipment fitted to the car. No sunroof but has cruise, pdc front and rear. Computer shows consumption of 10,2l/100km. Mileage is around 185k kms for both cars. My idea is to put the car up for sale as soon as i do the deal and get a later model X3 either 2l or 3l diesel. My X3 has no problems except for bust transfer case which was told to the owner of the E60 and he is happy to take it like that. I have been driving with the transfer case electrical connector disconnected (in effect disconnecting the T/c) for two years now with no problem. What would you do?

So the guy is offering me his car and R7k as straight swop for my X3 with duff transfer case. Must add that the aircon in his car has no gas in it, so no guarantee that it is only cost of a refill or something muuuch more expensive!!

If it was just a regas needed- which is relatively cheap - why wouldn't he have done so? If your plan is to sell on the E60, would you get more for it than for the X3? I can't imagine there being a very large market, even though they're lovely cars and I don't understand why everyone doesn't drive 5s (he said in a completely unbiased fashion).

In regards to re-gas, owner says he gets asthma or something when the ac is on thus he did not bother having it regassed.

Tell him you want it with a working aircon, if as mentioned its just gas, it will not be pricey and he can get it done.

I want to resell the car as i have a E60 530d. Will not be getting much more if any for the 523 than what i can get for my X3 if i sell that out of hand so at this stage i am not doing the deal. Told him to sell his car out of hand and come to me with the money.
