Standard Bank Apple Deals

Came across this last night. What do you guys think of this offer from Standard Bank?

https://mobiledeals.standardbank.co.za/deals/appledeals/ipad

It's roughly R1400 cheaper than anywhere else from what I can tell and the cool part is that if you buy it on your CC you can pay it off interest free over or within 24 months.

Now here's my dilemma. I wasn't shopping for an iPad until I came across this offer, so now I'm trying to justify why I should get one:rollsmile: As it stands, if I had to get it now it would just be because it's a good deal and not because it's something I need:flyfun: Where does this fit in between my iPhone and laptop?

So are there any reasons why I should or shouldn't go for it?:flyfun:

Dont do it ... if you dont NEED it .. heard Warren Buffet say something about how crazy it is... as half the stuff we buy we dont actually really need.

You will more than likely get it, play with it for a month of 2 and then it will just gather dust.

Don't buy something just cause it's bargain but you don't really have a need for it.

I would rather buy something that I really have a need for.

ITs a great tool to sit in bed with and watch movies, skype, browse the net... You could use the laptop to work during the day, the iPhone to be a phone and use the iPad at night when relaxing...

It really is very awesome, albeit not needed. If you find yourself at night sitting on your iPhone browsing youtube videos/Movies or 9Gag, or even BMW fanatics, you'll want the iPad... its just a better tool for that. Bigger screen, sits nicely in your hands.

During the day at work, it could be used, but I would rather keep my work stuff on the laptop and use that. Depending on your work environment, the Laptop is better for office use. I do alot of creative stuff and am always out the office, so the iPad comes into its own on this front. Can sketch on the fly, take panoramic pics of locations and geo mark them with Google maps etc.

Thats pretty much how I used my iPad. Great entertainment tool.

I took the 64GB one with Std Bank.
I also had to justify needing it, within a week I gave it to my dad as a birthday present but he actually uses it alot. Stopped using a diary completely and since he isn't involved with nitty gritty of our client's accounts, he just uses that when going to meetings for going over financials etc.
For business it can be handy as it's sometimes such a schlep to cart the laptop all over.

At night I've also been using it for the forum, much better and more comfortable than using the laptop in bed so I just ordered another one :)

Honestly bro, if you dont need it, dont buy it... i got my ipad 2 64gig 3g wifi in 2011 when it was just released in S.A, i think this year i must have used it twice, if you dont need a tab then dont get one, the novelty wears off after a while.

Haha I was actually thinking it would be cool for photos, reading and browsing, but then again I've managed to do all those things without an iPad up until now and I'm cool with that:rollsmile: Then again I almost always end up browsing or checking out the forum on Tapatalk with my phone at night or whenever I have some time to spare and find myself a little frustrated by the small screen.

or this:rollsmile:

I'm still in 2 minds about it:flyfun: Thinking of rather giving it a pass and putting the cash towards a new camera so I can upload better pics in the showroom:rollsmile:

I still think it's a good deal for anyone who's in the market for one tough:thumbs:

The full amount is still debited off your CC which could rather go towards a new cam:=):

I found a few people at work saying that they didn't know they needed one until they got one:flyfun:

It's true though. My dad barely knew what a tablet was, now if it's out of his sight he starts panicking, can't do without it :flyfun:

Mine has come in very handy for my studying of late as tut letters were delayed due to the post office strike, so downloaded all the relevant material to my iPad and works like a charm :) Less cumbersome than the study guide itself actually.

I have both and use my iPhone for 90% of the stuff I thought the iPad would be good for. Only use the iPad to browse Internet in front of the tv because it is easier than the laptop. Thought I would use the iPad for taking to meetings but still just take the laptop because it is not much more if a pain and can diva whole lot more...

I got an IPad 3 about 2months ago that I barely use. Maybe it's because I'm not as technologically savvy as I used to be, I literally open it up, swipe and flick things around for 5 mins and I'm bored.

Part of it is because I don't have Wi-Fi, using a carrier network sounds like it would be expensive.

Don't get it if you don't need it.
