Nothing major has been on the car, just tried to get my head of the studies a while on saturday by giving the car a bit of polish to get the color from brown to white again. I used L100 wax creme from Luxor and a buffer on the drill.

The first two photos you will see how brown the paint got over the years.

And then after the polish was done.

Thanks guys, started just after 9 am and finished roundabout 5 pm saturday. Still got the roof left and small pieces where the buffer didn't reach. :dunno: L100 from Luxor is wonder @ R74 for a half liter. The guys who were at Zwartkops 28 March will remember the grey dots all over my paint, I took care of it with a 1200 water sanding paper and then got rid of the sanding marks with this L100 polish. :) The old lady is a real beauty now, its just the fenders, bonnet and bumpers getting new paint and then she is going to be just perfect.:excited:

That car needs some clay.

Please give more detail? Does it take out the swirl marks?

WHere can I Get a buffer thingy that i can fit to a drill? what does it look like?
Cheers
Andrew

I bought mine from Accorn fastners in Centurion for R98, but I saw it at various hardware stores as well. It is just a pad with the wool on that you put in the drill. What I found was that I am going to need to get another 3 wool pads for a proper finish everytime. By the third panel that wool were so full of polish already and sticky.

Clay you can get from builders warehouse. Will do nothing for swirl, but will do a better job of getting rid of all the kak on your paint rather then abrading it away with a dril head.
Just be careful with using such a tool, wool head ona drill is very aggresive and impossible to work evenly. On a dark car you will hologram that car to shit.

Thanks, I will have a look at builders for the clay. Thanks for the tip with the drill, will not use it again.

So what's the 535i like as a daily drive, Gerhard?

Very nice, I stay 5 km's from work so my fuel bill is not that much in a month. I get 5km\L with it and last week with the trip to Bela-Bela, my average were 5,73km\L with the trailer (a bit heavy). The main thing is, if I want power, it's there, I don't need to search for it as with a 1300.
