I'm new to this forum and I want to ask a question regarding software.

I have a buddy who says he loaded 1998 320i software onto the computer box of his 1998 325is. This sounds a bit rediculous to me, but I am no expert at all so I would appreciate your assistance.

He claims that the 325is misfired and accelerated erratically occasionally, but drove just fine otherwise.

Your thoughts please...?

1998 would be E36 facelift, just before the E46 in 1999.
There was a 316i, 318is, 320i 323i and a 328i. And I think a 325tds as well. I got this from my memory from 20 years ago, so open to correction.

The E36 325is is a special edition for the US markets IIRC. SA never saw one.. We got the 318is and we did get the 328i Coupe though which is quite rare in SA..

:fencelook: my thoughts on the matter straight off - 320i / 325i well even if u did get one they would be totaly different to say the least, so simple 1+1 and he has already failed the test.
He should rather take it to a specialist - a few who are advertisers on this forum will be able to help him, before he dose any more damage to he car.
