So the M760Li....

I saw one the other day, driving around in Pretoria, and was actually taken aback. I didn't know the M760Li was already here, and that it was even coming here at all, because usually we miss out on the coolest models of any range.

So for shits and giggles I went onto the BMW site and specced one for my dreams, where it's most likely to stay. I say this because the base price of this behemoth is above R2.8m with steptronic transmission. Now let me stress that there aren't many optional extras available on this car because it comes standard with pretty much everything BMW has to offer. The optional extras that are available, however, are worth more than a new, eloquent family sedan meant for the average family combined.

With options such as top of the range Individual spec Merino leather at a cool R104,500.00, piano black trim at R9,900.00, the executive lounge package for the rear for foot rests and table rests etc at R54,100.00, window tinting at R7,500.00, Individual Alcantara headliner at R2,700.00, heat-comfort package which includes heated arm rests and heated steering at R5,000.00, a coolerbox at R18,000.00, and BMW's Pure Metal Silver that debuted on the F10 M5 for an arrogant R113,300.00, my total of extras comes to R315,000.00...

This brings my total delusional purchase price in at a whopping R3,034,736.00 inclusive of VAT and CO2 tax.

What depresses me more is that I heard BMW SA released statistics revealing that the majority of their 7-series purchases are not financed. Cash deals...

Wow.

Junk status? What's that?

And here I was thinking that this model, if it were to come to SA, would cost a max of around R2.4m. Well, it arrived and it did so swinging a knobkerrie over my head.

Nope - next M5 is going to cost that... if we are lucky

I saw the deal come through yesterday with free M Performance bits for a new 3 series. Since the wife needs an upgrade soon (overdue actually) I hopped onto the configurator and proceeded to spec a 340i to 920K without ticking all the boxes. FML :skit:

Rather buy an M3 used at this point... New car pricing across the board is a disaster

Also, the 2.8m and the 315k do not add up to the final figure as it should then be well over 3.1m, so I'm guessing the build simulator is either incorrect or it realised "hang on now, this guy is actually taking all of the extras, we better give some discount there somewhere in case he gets a heart attack before he can hit the order button"...

Wonder if it will also turn out to be a "depreciation king" like many of the other big exec German cars (e.g. 7, S and A8)... :fencelook:

Looks Great... TENDER GP (would be appropriate) :tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe:

Fingers Crossed  ,but then the problem is the Price of the car will go down but the parts will still be crap expensive. What I like to call, "BMW Multiplication"... the series (7) equals the multiplication on parts pricing, so this will be x7 on all parts prices! :skit:

Yup they are Xdrive

You would be amazed how many folks I work with that earn over R400K/month. This is working for a company that they don't own and own minimal shares in. Those who own successful businesses can easily buy these cars cash.

Those in government... well we know all about those mechanisms of acquisition :roflol:

Clear to me from a recent event is that foreigners are having a field day in SA as well. Many guys here at Multinationals from other countries and many guys from here go over for a few years and come back with huge savings (like buy a 4 bar house cash savings) and inflated salaries after earning Euros/GBP/USD and being rebased in Rands at the current exchange rate. People have some excellent negotiation skills...

Anyone want to do a cash in transit heist job with me?

Think about it. We zap the cash, insurance pays the transit guys out for money lost, insurance guys have the money from all the premiums collected over the years.

It's a win-win situation.

Seriously, it's becoming impossible to buy a new car these days.

This is the first M-branded 7er so only time will tell.

For the rest of the range like the 750Li, 750i etc, depreciation will knock you for a six the minute you take it off the showroom floor. No 7-series has ever held value, not even remotely well, except for special limited models like the Steinway&Sons Active Hybrid 7er twins.

Winning the lotto or a single heist are insufficient to ball on this level these days :roflol:

I forgot to mention that financing that amount of just over R3m will set you back R64,000.00 a month for 5 years, and brings your total repayment price in at over R3.8m.

You can easily get a Rolls for this amount of cash.

To be honest, a Rolls or Bentley make a lot more sense once you pass these prices, though your billionaire friends may look at you like a peasant for buying second hand LOL
