Smoke after service

A very good morning to you all, I have a question and I am hoping that someone can assist

I have just serviced my 318ti and after I have serviced the car has been smoking (white) excessively. Before the service there was no smoke , the person that was servicing the car was struggling to remove the air filter.
Is there anyone that has had the same challenge, please advice if you have any advise :blueCry:

Check the oil level, make sure it isn't overfilled, if they did a oil service.

I have checked the oil level and it seems ok, however the mechi was struggling to remove the air filter

Unless the air filter was shredded, it shouldn't be the reason for the white smoke (or perhaps if he took a poop on your MAF).

typically, white smoke = coolant and oil mixing = possible head gasket or head/overheating issue

is the vehicle idling properly?

it idles fine just now and it would ref up but after acceleration it would come down.

Hi, does it smoke all the time or only after standing and then starting, and also when idling for a while and then you rev it, does it give a cloud of smoke?

Hi

What type of oil was used?

It could be valve stem seals as well as the N42/N46 is known for that.

Not 100% sure of the oil buy I know that is was some magnetic or something like that

I am not very good with these terms what is N42/N46

That is the model code of the type of engine.
When does it smoke?

in the morning when engine is cold it does not smoke as soon as it is warm it smokes whilst idling and driving

My ex had this smoking problem after a good service.

On a serious note. White smoke is possibly your cylinder head gasket, white smoke is usually the motor burning coolant . It could just be unfortunate luck it started acting up after the service, but does not mean something went wrong during the service.

Rather have it checked out, you might do more harm driving like this

I suspect crap oil hence the issue being apparent when the motor is running at normal temps. I had the same issue on my car. Every person wanted to change the VS seals but I kept thinking about the recent oil service too. Threw the oil out and replaced it with my faithful Castrol Edge Sport 10W60 and it was perfect and has been for about 40000kms since.
