Sludged engines

Good day all!

Even though we've commented on this topic before, a picture IS worth a thousand words. So, we've decided to show you what we find on the inside of some engines.

Please let it be encouragement to do an oilchange every 15 000KM (petrol) and 12 000KM (diesel) - or less.

That looks more like someone used molasses instead of oil.

But on that note - if you use the correct oil at the correct interval, it should not be an issue, I'm on 300kkm with no special treatment.

By the time the car is out of warranty then it needs a new engine.

Good morning everybody,

Yes, this car is still driving! It's been "resuscitated" a few times. The lifters become extremely noisy because the oil pressure drops in the head.

This one is now on a strict 5000KM service interval-schedule, including a flush with every service. The client wasn't well educated before in regards to the importance of reducing the mileage between oil changes.

So we try and teach drivers, one at a time. We actually have a few clients who are in the process of claiming back their engines from the sludge.

Considering that I lost a motor at 110km on the clock a few months ago, due to sludge, and it cost me nearly 40k on a replacement and bits and bobs...

This is kind of a no brainer.

Yeph.

Rings got sludged, and I lost compression on cyl 4.

i change my 320d oil every 5000km to be safe.Costs me Roughly R650 everytime to do the oil.I dont drive as much as most guys so its not as often as one would think

Yip my F30 320d Ill be doing every 6500km because interval is 13000km
