Slow Puncture???

So I have had this slow puncture for months now...

It takes about a week to deflate from about 2.2 to about 1.5bar.

It is not good and it is bad for the wear of the tyre, so while I was taking pics at the Fitment Centre they offered to check it out.

Could not find a puncture in the tyre (so glad) and replaced the valve inner, so now I will keep an eye on it and hope it is fixed for good!!

Valve is usually the cause for a slow loss of pressure - not to say that it could be an actual puncture of course. Hope the problem is solved!

Wow! Your car looks awesome - immaculate condition! Look after it and enjoy! :)

After firing up the old girl after standing for 4 months under the shed, she also had a slight limp. The valve cap was stuck (I have those metal valve caps) ans after taking two pliers to the cap and the valve stem, it did not come loose...

Ended up tearing the rubber from the valve stem and taking the tyre to Quality Tyres for a new complete valve. And at no charge for the swop, it was the deal of the day, except for the fixing of my rattling exhaust which Speedy also fixed for free today. I'm telling you, it's great to be a local here :)

It could be the beading may need to take the tyre off then have it resealed,it can happen if you bump the sidewall against say a curb for instance

Yup. Met them the other day after I cut open my cats and wanted to reweld them close. She asked me R228 per cat (x2), and he suggested a fine tune on my arc welder which I eventually did. Saved myself the money (but at his own loss though). Nice guy!

@Hellas

R228X 2 is exactly what I spend on my cats each month, yeah they eat a lot

Your E39 is looking sharp in the pic too, I keep thinking how clean it is... looks good there Philip

I was looking at buying a E39 528i exact same color but Grey inside on Friday, I'm VERY tempted, just have to ditch this extra Merc.

Anybody want a very nice Mercedes for their wife or something, PM me?

You will not make a mistake... this Merc is in very good nick... You know Rick and you know how he is about his "movable" property...

If I had the money, I would not think twice....

I would love to help... take a drive to Springbok to deliver and bring back??? Sort out the fuel and I'll do it....

Update....

The slow leak was from the inside of the valve.

Replaced it and have not had to top-up at all!!!

Problem solved..

Now I am going to swop the tyres, front to rear....
