Sim Race South Africa

Just wondering if any of you guys are aware of Sim Race SA. Local community that is growing very quickly. We compete every week in a couple different series. Every race is streamed live on youtube with commentary. Currently have 60 odd guys with 3 separate divisions across all series. The racing is very close and competitive and an absolute blast for any car/motorsport enthusiast. Most races are full races (90mins) with pitstops Monday's or Wednesday evenings depending on what division you qualify for.

We use Assetto Corsa at the moment as our choice of sim. Everyone has wheels and pedals. Some guys start with an XBOX controller/keyboard mouse combo. Much harder of coarse without the wheel+pedal set.

You can start anytime, doesnt matter if in the middle of a season. Also if anyone is interested and already has Assetto Corsa there is some fun Mazda MX5 racing tonight at Brands Hatch. We call it the Academy racing. Races are usually 6 laps long from about 8:00pm till late and gives the new guys an opportunity to jump on discord and chat to some of the experienced guys while they watch you around the track and give you guidance on breaking points, racing lines, setups etc.

If anyone is interested check it out:

I just built a basic sim - Super super basic and super effective ( i still need to add some more support) but its basically done for now.

Sim build (ex electronics) was under 3k.

Seat was R1200
Laser cut + Metal R 1250
That aluminium piece was R 500
Welding and bolts were free (because workplace)

it is far better than any other entry level sim at the same price.

Even though its an xbox setup its still affordable and fun - Great way to get into it.

Been watching the series and always wanted to join, but am in and out of the States so often that I would never really get time to partake. =/

Love me some z4 GT3 on Assetto Corsa and RFactor 2.

Found the site last week some time.
I just got myself a G920 for XBOX and Assetto Corsa.

My current rig is too unstable for the FFB, so I'm planning on building one out of PVC.

My old sim wheel never had FFB but had loads of fun in Forza.

Post some lap times guys... and video proof of best hotlap if you can.

Lets do some z4 GT3 in Assetto Corsa on Imola and Monza for starters.

Using Pro difficulty/settings. Factory assists, no drive line, realistic tyre wear and fuel usage.

If you want a wheel i am considering selling my Thrustmaster T300 GTE with Logitech G27 pedals. I dont know what platform you are playing on but its compatible with PS3/4 and PC.

I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. It'll be nice to get my fix between normal race events. Is there somewhere on the simracesa site where it explains on how to get started in terms of setup and hardware required?

I will have to basically get everything from scratch as I still have an old PS with GT. I think this will be a nice way to get back into it.

Hey bud. Right now we are only on Assetto corsa and PC. So u will need a PC that can run it and buy Assetto Corsa off steam. You can also always post on the forum if you have any questions.

You need a wheel and pedals setup. So your GT will be a good start. Sign up for 2019 season 1 will be available toward the end of this week so I will update the thread with the link.
