Should i get rid of my e36 325?

Hi guys, i would appreciate a bit of help please.

I am in two minds about trading in my e36 325. I went to have a look at a e39 523i manual today, its a 1998 model. Its got 195k kilometers on the clock, the service history only runs up to 138k kilometers. Its got the spare key and everything else.

The car looks to be in very good shape. The car dealer are asking R60k for it and offering me R30k for my 325i.

Do you guys think this is an upgrade? or should i just stick with my e36?
I have done alot of repairs on my e36 and still love it, currently its got about 215k kilometes on it and still going fine.

Its just that i really love the e39 shape beemers, and its a manual!! I am getting a bit tired of driving my auto.

Just for interest sake there is also a e39 540 there for R80k but its just a bit to much for me currently.

What do you guys suggest i should do?

Mine is a 1995 325i with 215k on the clock. Its got a full service history, and in good shape. The seats still look very good, especially the rear seats looks like it is never used!! The car is arctic blue with black leather interior, sunroof, original 6 disc cd changer. Still stock, except for 17inch rims.

Offer the dealer R40k for the e39, its not really worth much more than that. Even if its in good shape. My friend just picked up a e39 528i in alright condition for R30k. The e39 540i though would be first class, fantastic car, just ask Clutchplate.

Check here... http://search.autotrader.co.za/www/cars_advert?id=201017186689543

I dont know if the dealer would accept an offer that low, but i will try.
All the e39's i see around here go for about R60k. But i will try, and see what happens.

In my opinion you wont like going from a 325i to a 523i, the 523i is a bigger car with a smaller engine, try get a 528i or a 525i they are very good cars.

I might be wrong with a actual engine size of a 523i ? is it also a 2.5L or is it actually a 2.3L ? one thing I do know is that a 323i and a 523i aint going to perform like a 325i or 525i.

e39 523i was a detuned 525i, with the same specs as the e46 323i, namely, 2.5l displacement, 125Kw, 245nm torque, 525i was a 2.5l, 141kw, and 245nm torque... so, i'd get the 525i up...
