Hi Guys,
I recently purchased an 2013 ActiveHybrid 3 (F30), and somewhere in its life it had damage to the front right suspension.
I am busy fixing it up... but the bottom line is that it needs a new shock...but this car came out with the electronic damper control (EDC), not standard shocks.
I am told the EDC shocks are really expensive to replace R10 - R15k per shock, and near impossible to find in spares. part number 37-11-6-793-868
1) Is it really worth having electronic damper control? Whilst I enjoy speed and power I dont race this car, so sports suspension isnt a requirement.
2) Is it possible to replace an edc shock with a standard F30 shock, I have read somewhere that you can "code" out the error (because there is no sensor), but is it a direct replacement? anyone done this before?
3) Do shocks need to be replaced in pairs? If so, the question above could make a R20k difference between normal and edc shocks.
Thanks in advance, Chris
