Servicing of a Diesel BMW

Hi guys,

My car is due for a service again, but luckily a minor service. But I don't want to waste my money and take it to someone who's going to charge me a lot for something that I can just done myself (have serviced a petrol previously)

I just want to know... what is there that I must look out for? Is it just replacing the spark plugs, oil, air filter and oil filter? :fencelook:

no spark plugs in a diesel :fencelook: ..but oil service is just like normal if im not mistaken and some new filters..but oil services are more frequent on diesels..it's good to check crankcase breather on some models..and the EGR might need cleaning from time to time if it has one..

You don't need to replace your fuel filter on every service, this filter alone costs in the region of R1000 (or so I'm told for my diesel)... model and parts are obviously parts dealer dependent... but filters and GOOD OIL as above, check all pads just for peace of mind... and for any small animals

I recently imported my service kit and it cost half of what the stealerships wanted.
This included Diesel filter, oil filter and airfilter.
Oil i got from the stealers because they are roughly the same price everywhere else.

Drop me a pm with VIN and car details, lets see if we can help out here.

Another good thing with me is that JSN still does my service even though the car is out of motorplan.
I get the parts, they do the service. its all good:thumbs:
