Hi

I'm new to the forum - I have just bought a 2002 BMW M5 ex Jhb, and was wondering if anyone knew of a trusted independent in the PE area that I could take it to?

Thanks

Would stick to the dealer here in Port Elizabeth, especially if you are driving a speciality vehicle like an M3 or M5. Continental Cars service is excellent!

Ya, took my 333i to them for a major service just after I bought it in 2007. Was with them for a whole week and still not serviced! Gavin (the owner) is never in the store and when he is, he is constantly on the phone and will make you endless promises once he 'gets to you'. Further, some po$phole decided to use my rear apron as his ladder and caused some serious damage, which Gavin failed to own up to despite the obvious shoe imprint. There is a lot more I can tell you about them and Gerder Motors (horrible stuff!).

Stay far away from revival motors. Useless

I would suggest that basic services stay with Dealer as they are not that much more that aftermarket workshops. Sometimes they can be cheaper.

I have delt with Belgic which is situated in Sidwell as well as Walmer motors.

Both these guys are ex BMW technicians

Thanks "The Moose" and 'M3_devil" - think I will start with dealer and take it from there - do they still do general inspections, or should I rather do it as part of the next service when it's due. I'd like to get an idea of what needs to be looked at in the short to medium term

I think having that initial 'diagnotic' done before or after purchasing a 10 year+ car is absolutely Imparitive to potentially save some $ in the long term as you just might pick up something before it becomes a problem.
