morning guys,

it is with a very heavy heart to say that last night- my neighbor reversed into my rear passenger door- quite bad :( the car was literally outside for 2minutes while i went in to fetch my gym bag. FML

now begins the whole nightmare of insurance.

1)just wanted to know which panelbeaters are BMW approved besides alberante ?
2)must i remove my DP when the car goes in ( if Alberante was the only approved bmw panelbeater)?

thanks guys

Eish...sorry bud. Lesson here is "don't go to gym". lol. Jokes aside, Lyndhurst Auto did a good job on my 6-er but took their time. Last I heard they were also booked up for months. Club Motors Randburg ARC is also apparently very good.

Hope you get sorted out quick bud.

Definitely remove the DP.
Definitely.

Also, Lyndhurst is booked ahead for a long time, not sure why that is, while on the other hand, alberante will take you in tomorrow.

Just be very particular when you go to fetch the car and make sure you are happy with the work that has been done.

I take mine for cosmetic touching up to renew-it Marlboro, they merc approved, Aston Martin approved and MClaren approved. Always had a good job done (better than Lyndhurst by miles). Not sure how it stands with being BM "approved" but my understanding was with bumper bashing it's not a problem only is a problem if it's in a proper accident. (I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong)

If on motorplan , you have to go to a bmw arc. Only problem is most of them are quite booked.

I took my car in the 2nd time , when it went to Lyndhurst. The bonnet which was replaced could not open , when I picked it up it did.... The workshop manager told me he cannot guarantee quality on a Friday.......

To their credit , the mineral white color was perfect , adaptive lights work and no issues thereafter. It was a 10 day job , R 70k . But got my car 2.5 mths later , I was told upfront of the duration. And they were very helpful when I complained.

Going to an arc , you expect perfection.....

Well that sucks :thumbdo:

Take it to an ARC and remove the DP if you want to keep your MP. Alberante is good.. But yes check your car thoroughly before you take it back, don't drive away from ANY BMW dealership until you have scrutineer-ed your car.. I have learnt my lessons. GL!

We always use auto alphina springs, the do excellent work!! Have had some problems in the past with alberante, with them not replacing parts as the should, but instead just fix them. The quote was done on new parts

Sorry to hear :blueCry:
Im not sure about the DP, I would of left it on...but seems the guys advise is to take it off. Guess better safe than sorry...
I just didn't think they would look underneath the car if the damage is on the door.
Why would they put it on a lift? And then the DP is in such a place that you really need to inspect that specific area to see if its aftermarket or not..

Sorry bud, that really sucks! But I can totally relate.

My ex F30 320i was hit from behind after being 3 months old! (idiot was on the phone) and then side swiped again by a drunk driver in March. :blueCry:

Both times I took the car to Lyndhurst, their paint work is perfect but the fit and finish work is kinda crap! :hammerhead:
Definitely make a noise if you're unsatisfied with it. Also, they only took the car in after 2 months.

Good luck!
