Why the Porsche Cayenne Diesel & the VW Touareg 3.0 V6 TDI BlueMotion Technology ? Isn't that basically the same vehicle?

And the categories with only one vehicle? That mean they won already? Surely there are at least two suitable Cabriolets and Sports Cars?

Sports Car / Coupe - Mercedes Benz C Class Coupe 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY

Surely there must be other contenders for Sports car/coupe? A diesel winning sports car of the year, I never though that would happen so soon. I'm pro-diesel, but I'm not sure that I agree on this one.

Sad no other Sports cars / coupes made it through.
I am shocked with Alpha.

The 26 vehicles bidding for a place in this year's competition were chosen by the members of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) from the pool of vehicles launched in this country between 1 October 2010 and 31 August 2011.
The SA Car of the Year competition is about automotive excellence and the winning vehicle must score highly in its own class, not against each other as is often thought, but across a variety of categories, including those which reflect value for money, safety, dynamics, technology and aesthetics.

When I think sports car/coupe the first thing that jumps to mind it not
250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY what is that a 1.6 Diesel quad turbo or something :) What happened to the 63's

I don't know maybe thats just me

I wonder why BMW's didn't make the cut is it because they havn't launced many new models in that time or they to expensive I wonder
