the cool thing with android is that if you don't like something you download another app to take it's place, customisation is amazing on android. for example, I didn't like the stock dialer on my One X, so I downloaded a new one and made it my default. Currently with medium usage my battery lasts about 1.5 - 2 days.

Hmmm...
As I'm in the IT world....
Everything is going to Android, because it's free unlike the royalties that needs to be paid to Microsoft(Nokia) and all the other cellular companies is saving big time with Android.

Phones that I owned is iPhone 3GS,iPhone 4, HTC HD2, HTC HD7 etc. etc.
And currently I own a Galaxy S Note. (I loaded it with ICS 4.0.3, as it came with Gingerbread 2.3) and I must say I'm really loving it.
It's good if you like open source as you can manipulate the way you want it with a lot of tweaks etc.

What I can say: Android needs yet to achieve the "smoothness" like the iOS operating system. The fact that we live in S.A and with the crappy Apple SA store is really thumbs down.:thumbdo: To purchase from US store, you have to buy vouchers, register a valid U.S address (i used McDonalds), change your computer as "United States" etc. etc. before it accepts it....

Where Android only has one Market....you register with your gmail account and youre done. You can download anything, anywhere and the best part is most applications is free. Yet unlike Apple.
And Android doesn't use a interface like Apple does...(iTunes- which I hated but it improved our the past 2-3years) Android is drag and drop the file you want in the right folder....

We already testing Windows 8 (developers edition) and it seems that Win 8 mobile is going to work perfectly with it. As Windows 8 looks a lot like Windows Mobile 7 already....

So yes...it's personal preference.

Go and google:
HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy s3.
iPhone 4S vs Samsung Galaxy S3
iPhone 4S vs HTC One X
and read some reviews....

Try and go for "future proof" (better spec) like 4G etc....4G Technology is yet to come to SA...and then it's play time over again!

My choice:
Samsung Galaxy s3
HTC one X
iPhone 4S
(my personal opinion)

I have used both, I can say that the iPhone is very limited in everyday convienence, eg. you cant send multiple photos in an email, which is very strange. It's probably best as a fashion accessory as you look kinda cool when you interact with the touch screen and perform all the flicks and pinches etc. I however found its cababilities very limited and the constant need to download apps is annoying to get the most out of the phone. Someone I know summed up the iPhone as "being very easy to use for someone who battles with technology, but people who need advanced features will really battle with an iPhone" :thumbdo:

I did use the S3 over the weekend at Vodaworld and was totally blown away by the features that the phone had, the screen quality, the photos it can take, the photo burst mode is quite cool. Also noticed the phone doesnt freeze when moving between screens and photos, it is very fast with excellent HD video playback. The voice feature is very cool as well as direct call, which is where if you have received an sms or missed call, you simply put the phone to your ear and it will dial the number, to me really cool, especially when driving. :praise:

It is abit big but not as large as the Galaxy Note, we where able to compare both phones as the Samsung consultant owns a Galaxy Note, he actually admitted the Galaxy Note as not having the tech and features of the S3. I am very impressed with the S3 and definitely going to look at it when I'm due for upgrade.

Apple and RIM have a bit of catching up to do, I read in the Sunday paper that Apple actually have a lawsuit going to prevent the releasing of the S3 worldwide, shows how much Apple are afraid of this phone. :roflol:

I'm due for an upgrade soon as well and for me it was between the Galaxy S3 or HTC one X. I have to admit, The HTC wins hands down in looks. I also prefer the build quality of HTC over Samsung. Somehow the phone just feels more "solid".

I don't think we ready for QuadCores yet as Android is yet to properly xploit dual cores. But saying that, if you choosing a phone for the next 2 years, taking one with the highest spec doesn't hurt. You can always wait for the OS to catchup.

Something that has recently caught my eye is the Motorola RAZR MAXX. Its well put together with dual cores but best of all, it comes with a 3,300mAh battery. Considering the 1800mAh on the OneX and 2100mAh on the S3, this phone may just last over day !!!

Full spec -
Dual core processor
Thin body, measuring less than 9.5mm/0.37inches (0.35 inches)
High pixel densitiy screen, over 250ppi (256 ppi)
Big screen (4.30 inches)
High-resolution display (540 x 960 pixels)
Very fast processor (1200 MHz)
Lots of RAM (1024 MB RAM)
High-resolution camera (8 megapixels)
HDMI connector for TV-out (Micro HDMI (Type

Screen res seems to be only put down :(

Coming from an IOS background, I have to say the one thing that puts me off Android is their failure to rollout upgrades quickly. I understand the wide range of devices that need to be supported but it seems that the upgrades are also very limited to manufacturer rollouts.

That said, I am bored of IOS, so I will probably take the plunge and tinkle with Android on my next upgrade.

We will get the duel core version of the ONE X, we in dark Africa dont have 4G LTE yet.

I'd push towards getting the latest HTC to be honest. The sense UI is really slick in my opinion. But if your interest is between the 2 Samsung Galaxy phones only, I'd recommend a poll just between those two. That way you'd get less opinions about HTC, Iphone, Xperia or Nokia phone.

I have had the HTC one X for a month now... I love it. ICS rocks. HTC 4.0 is brilliant. The HW on this thing is amazing, from the screen, to battery power, to look and feel of the body.

The only uncool things are the 32gb non-expandable memory, and the non-removable battery. Buuut... I don't foresee me having issues with either.

The screen, may not be SUPER AMOLED, but is SUPER LCD II, which believe it or not, is brighter than the AMOLED screens on Samsung. Sunspider test is different story though.

The phone is brilliant. ANNDD, is not a SAMSUNG, which is as common as the iPhone which in my opinion, is like being back in 1984 with big brother watching me, and telling me I cannot transfer files via BT etc. etc...

Apple make good products, but even the iPhone 4S cannot compare to either the SIII on the HTC one X in ALL factors.

My 2cents

You shouldn't be talking on your cellphone while driving, not is this jsut dangerous but an EPIC fail and you are one of the people who give BMW drivers a bad name....:nonono::thumbdo:

secondly, you can input more than one photo on an e-mail on an Apple phone, google it and you will see....you touch, share and use in mail....:flyfun::rollsmile:

:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

now stop driving and suing your phone and you will find out about the rest of the features he he :roflol::rollsmile:

but definitely agreed, the S3 is a threat to all smartphone companies for sure!!! i read that same articled about the Apple's lawsuit and the Galaxy S3 is very well priced, R7799 from Vodacom, not shabby compared to exhorbitant pricing of other manufacturers, especially apple.

Rather go for the 3330. It came with animated backgrounds. And it could store 100 more contacts. ;)

It also had WAP so you could use the internets. Only downside is monochrome pixel porn doesn't do much for most people :roflol:

I currently have a Galaxy SII. On average I'm happy with it, but looking for something better, soon. Would have gone for Galaxy Note if not for Galaxy SIII.

What is your opinion between Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Note?

:biglol: Very funny, but it is impossible to not take or make a call in the car, especially if it is an emergency, hence the term mobile phone. People say it is dangerous to use a phone and drive which is due to the fact that one has to dial a number a look away from the road. The reason why I think this feature is good, is due to the fact that I've had to use the phone while driving but then have to look up contacts in the phonebook while driving which is really dangerous, this feature assists in reducing the amount of time your eyes are off the road.

& Azzkikr, generally if I need to make a call I move into the left lane to make a call, unlike most who hog the right lane and do 80km/h in a 120km/h zone discussing whats for supper with wifey. :roflol:

Well obviously the S3 is better in terms of performance as it is a Quad core processor vs a dual core.

The galaxy Note is really big...some people dislike it very much, but I like it again. 5.3" 1280x800 is good for some movies and games. As the galaxy note is like a mini "tablet" with a Stylus pen.
ICS is not yeat released on the Note, but comes standard with S3.
I'm sure soon there will be like a galaxy Note 2 or something...

My personal opinion: S3 baby...!
