Since one of the most anticipated smartphone - the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone have been launched in S.A.....
Have anybody gotten to try it out? or knows of anyone whom bought one?

Would love to get some real-world opinions and comparisons instead of relying solely on biased internet reviews and videos...

Price wise*;
S2 R5699
S3 R 7799

*Got off their online shop

Since Ice Cream Sandwich is now available for the S II, should I stick to S II or get the S III (yes, I'm phone shopping :) )

I have the SII and think it's brilliant. Haven't loaded ICS yet but will do as soon as I can get this bladdy Kies installed on my notebook.

I for one don't like the look of the SIII and I'm yet to check out specs on it so can't comment just yet on which is better.

Good luck with choosing :=):

I have the galaxy s2 and must say im very very pleased, id stick with the s2 coz the price difference in my opinion just isn't worth it as the s2 does everything and more than you will need

S2 is still a good phone, I'm just not a fan of the Samsung interface. I prefer the HTC sense UI.

Grab the S2, it's a good price for a phone that will be around for a while.

my options for next upgrade soon are the S3, HTC One X, and iPhone.

I have been using 2 HTCs for the last four years and love my last and current one - HD2, only it was let down by running with windows application. The new OneX will be Android, so i'm tending to go the HTC Route again.

Anyone got any views on the HTC?
2nd option is the S3
for some reason i have always thought of the iPhone as just an iPod music player with a phone capability

I have an SII and i'm thoroughly happy with it. It's absolutely brilliant phone once you get around Samsung Touchwiz. I've gone with an ICS rom which pretty much looks similar to the LG interface which i find to be superb.

I, for one, am not a fan of the TouchWiz Interface at all. It's horrific, slow, cumbersome and just shite really. Sense from HTC is FAR superior.

The competition to the SIII is pretty much only the HTC One X. Having used and played with both, i must admit it's down to personal preference. TouchWiz or Sense. I find the screens abit different too. The HTC has better whites while the Samsung has better blacks. They're very similar in spec too.

Personally i was very underwhelmed with the SIII and i'm waiting for the next generation before I upgrade. The SII is just too good and to pay 3k more for a phone that, in my opinion, is only slightly better, kinda pointless.

Just my opinion

I would get the S3! The tech is way advanced and I would get it for the S beam alone that piece of technology is going to change the way yu do things!

I have the HTC one x and its awesome to say the least . I also prefer the sense interface to touchwiz. A girl at work has the S3 and touchwiz 4.0 sucks compared to touchwiz 3.0 from the S2.

so we'll call it the HTC 1///M, and because the S3 will also be good therefore more common, that we will say is the new M3

Max, I used a colleague's new S3 briefly today, and came away quite impressed.

The phone feels good in hand, smooth but not slippery, and nice and rounded, but is a bit large - you have to move your hand on the phone to get to the top part of the screen, and I don't have small hands.

The screen is gorgeous.

Takes pictures very quickly, and can take a burst shot and selects the best photo automatically and saves that one

I also tried S-Voice, which is Samsung's Siri clone, and it worked well - I said "What's the weather like?", it recognised my voice, displayed my question, and then brought up a weather report for Stellenbosch.

I was however surprised that the scrolling between homescreens was not as fluid as I'd expect from a quad core chip...this is not only down to the TouchWiz "skin" because my colleague changed it to a more stock looking ICS interface.

I don't know if I'd pay R399 vs R299 on contract or 2k more cash over the SII which can do most of the same stuff and feels as slick, if not slicker to me...

Either way, I'm getting a Lumia 900 end of month

Choose the S3, it is new and you won't regret it! You will regret choosing an Iphone over the S2 or the S3.

Android is just......... so much BETTER in every way:thumbs:

I have a HTC HD2 now, the phone is let down by Microsoft OS but it still a good phone.

I upgrade in a months time HTC ONE X baby!!!
That phone makes all the others fade into the background, the SIII is let down by the hardware and it quite laggy when switching app and surfing.

The only 2 options I deam viable are the iPhone4s or the iPhone5, HTC ONE>X, ONE>V, ONE>S.

DEATH TO BLACK BERRY!!
