wow.

the last pic is not so bad actually, very little that can go wrong there.

actually, you are wrong,if its a wooden ladder can break, and aliminium can bend, every ladder has proper operating instructions and should be adhered to.

sorry but im a health and safety rep aswell as samtrac

True, but its very unlikely to happen in that setup -> I'm an engineer.

and thats why there is always friction between engineers and safety.

LOL. Okay, I won't disagree further. The last pic is however in my view not in the same class as the others, as it is an inherently stable structure, whereas the others aren't.

P1000: I am also on the receiving end of the safety reps, but I have seen entire mines shut down for weeks, then gradually start up because of safety incidents. Amazing the power the Health & Safety plays in our mines these days.

The standing time is all for the mine's account though. Now I stand there and punch in a R100k PER DAY bill for the fact that I'm standing. The mine write it off to safety costs. Amazing.

That car on wooden beams is just a WTF, either big balls or no brain to stand under that thing. The earth could crumble from that ledge.

I agree.
That ladder is more stable than what it would be if it were on a plain floor.
Only the scenery might be upsetting.
Oh yes... a hard hat will help him in the same way that safety shoes will help in this scenario (if he falls). It is not a crash helmet.
