Hi guys, so today i see my rear tyre very flat..way under a bar, is it possible to drive it like this to a garage about 10km away seeing as it is a runflat??

I would have taken it off, but this car came with no jack and no wheelspanner :nonono:

using a runflat when underflated will result in some damage to the sidewall. All a runflat allows is for safe travel at low speeds with a deflated tyre. The tyre will get damaged, not sure how much after 10km.

I think 10kms fully deflated is going to result in damage... I've driven less distance with more pressure left in the tyre and still had to replace the tyre... best to keep a 12V pump handy with RFT's... :argh:
Sorry dude... I feel your pain.. RFT's = :thumbdo:

Thanks guys, i see with the price of runflats i would be able to buy an after market set of rims with normal tyres, cos no use just changing 1 tyre...

Why not use the tyre repair kit? seal it, re-inflate and drive to a tyre shop.

It should be fine. I driven much longer distances, low speeds and tire was fine.

You can drive on the run flat at a max speed of 80kms/ph.

10 kms at that speed should be fine, but just check around if theres somewhere closer you can go to.

I drove my N54 335I with 4 adults in car for 30km tyre fully deflated at 80km/hr because i was in same position. At that stage i did not have my repair kit or mini compressor in car. (MURPHY). These tyres are a lot stronger than you think. I stopped at a shopping centre bought another repair kit and mini compressor and fixed it right there. (nail in tyre). Took only 2 minutes because nail was on outer thread and didn't even have to take the wheel off.
I drove home 160km on the tyre and by that time the plug had sealed in very nicely. I never had to replace the tyre and it still gave many km of service.
It's a myth that you cannot repair a runflat tyre.

Now i have a kit for both cars. :bravo:

you don't need aftermarket rims if you want to use normal tires, you can fit a normal tire on a oem rim, but not a runflat tire on a normal rim, as the oem rims have a extra lip to keep the tire from popping off while driving on it flat (using a runflat tire).
