Run Flat Replacement

Mornings

I am about to replace the 255/35 R18 (rear) & 225/40 R18 (front)Run Flats on my E90 330D.
I am looking at Bridgestone, Michelin & Pirelli, wanting a tyre that will last, but more importantly perform, especially in the wet.

Any reviews/recomendations would be appreciated.

I have always preferred Bridgestone Potenza's with directional water replacing grooves. I do not know the Michellin and Pirelli run flats. I know that Conti's are no good in wet weather. Wrote a BM off on a wet road with them aquaplaning.

You won't go wrong with Bridgestone, Michelin, Continental or Pirellei.

conti's I would personally stay away from, havn't heard the best about them.

Bridgestones depends on the generation, Re050 is a 2nd generation if I'm not mistaken and is quite hard but gives you good mileage, not the best in the wet. the S001 (3rd generation) is apparently quite good but not always sizes for all the staggered set ups so haven't tried it.

Pirelli is a really good gripper and comfy but always tends to let down on mileage.

Michelin I love, on my second set of PS2 runflats. The best between smoothness, noise, mileage and dry/wet grip. Only usually the priciest.

Haven't had any issues with Conti sc3s. Bridgestones are rfts are shit. They ride so hard.

Those are the only tyres I've had in rfts.

Hi Bud,

I Have had Bridgestones and they last long, are harder (I had the exact tyre profiles as your car) but they handle good too.

I have recently gotten the 320d, i had bridgestones again and they were cool, and nw I am sporting Pirelli P-Zero RFT's and they grip lovely, wet/dry handling also is awesome! Mileage is oak on the rear with all the torque but my fronts are doing pretty well, definititely go down quicker than Bridgestone (these only 2 i had).

A buddy had Bridgestone, Pirelli & Michelin and rate them in the exact order in opposite to his preference of the tyres with each having their own strengths and brags

1. Michelin
2. Pirelli
3. Bridgestone

My vote to Michelin as well, I have a set of 19's on the F10 and truth be told, I can't tell I've got RFTs on. No road noise and f'all hardness to the ride. Smooth as silk!

I've had Bridgestones on my F30 and they were much harder and noisier, although I figure the comparison between the cars isn't exactly fair. That being said, I sold the car with 60k on the clock - the rears had to be replaced but the fronts were still good to go. That impressed even the dealer I sold the car to.

The Bridgestone S001 are good in dry conditions but very very crap in the Wet when they get to 60% wear. No water displacing outward or inward.

I'm thinking about changing to Michelins as well because of comfort, current I have the stock Bridgestone Potenza and they are loud and hard, my family always complains about how uncomfortable the car is
