I dont think it was a stolen badge ,
Iv seen the same badge being sold at a flea market here in Durban (sunday one near musgrave centre) as well , They wanted R200 per badge ,What that badge did not come with though was the rubber grommets .

Hmm after having a look at it again , It has the part number , Bmw logo , and below it some other part numbers and the name DEMMEL stamped on it . and its black , where as my original was silver at the back.

I purchased a new one from BMW 4 years ago when my original one started to show cracks and flake , To be honest , I agree with GPGrobler , I also purchased a non original from some guy in Dbn a few days after buying the original, he was walking around selling these things , I paid R100 for it , and the quality is amazing , I compared it with the original that I purchased and I really dont see a difference . Everything matched perfectly , even had the BMW part number stamped at the back with the logo and everything.

Wish I didn't spend so much for the Original part. I dont remember the price but I know I paid over R400 for it, I kept the original one aside for my E30. And fitted the non original thinking , yeah it should crack etc , but its still as good as new , in fact its perfect.

Some of the non OEM are really good imo. You just have to find the right one.

Sounds like a stolen badge. Especially if it had a part number and bmw stamp.

The one I bought from BMW was a plastic one which was black on the back, paid R500.00 for it, while the OE ones that was on my E30 previously are made from Aluminium. Paying R500.00 for an OE plastic badge from Eastview BMW was quite disappointing. :thumbdo:
