4955km and 5 provinces later my epic road trip has drawn to an end... I went to visit some good friends in Jeffreys Bay. That was supposed to be as far as I was going. Then an impromptu weekend trip to Cape Town happened too. Overall it was an incredible time away and the E60 was a really incredible travelling companion.
P.S. Please excuse the car being dirty in some of the shots
I'll let the pics tell the story as we go along! Hope you guys enjoy!
4 am leaving Joburg. The highways are quite nice at this time of day!
Breakfast stop in Bloemfontein. The E60 looking great in the morning sun
Mileage Milestone
Quick pitstop in Colesburg. Quite chilly at 12 degrees.
The wide open road on the way to Graaff-Reinet
Stopped in the middle of nowhere
One of my all time favorite shots of the E60
I stopped at the Drostdy Hof Hotel in Graaff-Reinet for lunch. Highly recommended!
Nice Lamb Burger for lunch! One of the best burgers I've had in a long while.
Loooooong straight road heading towards Uitenhage
First time seeing the sea!
We have arrived. Long day on the road, but a good day
I arrived in Jbay on Wednesday afternoon, by mid day Friday we had decided to hit a quick trip to Cape Town for the weekend. So we ended up leaving JBay at around 330pm on Friday afternoon for Cape Town. 650km away... :fencelook:
Next Mileage Milestone on the way to Cape Town
Nice sunset on our way into Heidelburg I think it was...
The next morning in Stellenbosch. The plan for the day, visit the Franschhoek Motor Museum and see some family in Paarl.
The museum is set in the most stunning of locations. I'd kill to be able to live here!
BMW 328 Roadster iirc
BMW 502. I love this thing!
Mandela's E38. I freaking love this thing!
Puuuure Class
I took waaaay more pictures at the museum but I'm thinking of making a separate thread about that visit...
After visiting some family in Paarl we decided to head up the Franschoek pass before the sun set as we didnt get to drive it after visiting the museum. So this is on the way to Franschhoek again
Stopped part of the way up...
The Valley. Fell inlove with this place more from here.
A look down from where we'd just come.
Panorama taken with my Note 5...
Top of the Pass
The next morning was time to head back towards Jbay again... We were due to meet up with some of Calvin's family in Cape Town for brunch around 10ish... So I decided that we'd hit Chapmans peak quickly before brunch.
Chilly morning in the shade! Very windy too but worth it for the photo op!
...........................
Another Panorama
Dirty dirty girl by now!
She's a looker though!
Another 1000...
Upon reaching George I decided to detour off the N2 and take the R62 to Humansdorp for a slight change of scenery.
We stopped to take a quick shot of the sunset. Camera just doesnt do it justice though.
The rest of my time was spent chilling out and relaxing. Which was lekker... Before heading home I finally got the call that the long awaited registration papers for my car had arrived so a detour to Howick would be in order to get the papers and register the car.
Another one!
Approaching Kokstad
Back in my home province
The other side of Kokstad heading towards Underberg and heading towards some rain
I was right. Eerily pretty though.
Jeffrey's Bay to Howick on a single tank of diesel
raise:
With the car registered it's back to Jozi we go
Yeah. We're back...
Quick little summary of the trip.
I mapped out a basic outline of what my trip looked like to give an idea... Nearly one end of the country to another!
All in all it was a fantastic time and I already wanna go back!
