Hi there i need help my friend owns a 1998 BMW Dolphin Shape 318is.
Recently the Rev Counter while idling flutuates and jerks on 1st gear while driving in traffic at low speed. [/u]

Please Help resolve problem.

Could be a couple of things, not sure about the jerking but the idling problem could be the icv, MAF, air hose leaks. Do a diagnostics on the car normally the quickest way. Hope my 2c helps

+1 on the idle control valve, friend use to have same car and he knows pretty well all the problems relating to that car - forum name is dave...

Had the same issue, was one of the hoses that needed to be replaced
