Remote Central Locking

Keyless Entry

Hi Guys. I bought a lovely 1992 730i last week. It does not have remote entry, although the central locking still works 100%.
I see that there are plug and play units available in the UK and USA. Does any one know if something is available locally or would I have to get it from abroad?

I used to own a "white" E32 730i 1992, and it "DID" have a key with remote control for keyless entry.

so I doubt wether you need to go the aftermarket route

so get hold of a new (secondhand) key-folb, and then have it coded to your car......easy ...search youtube for how to do this..ie synchronize your "folb" to the cars computor.

If I recal, mine was the type that the key actually folded into the unit like a swiss pocket knife, and it had the electronic buttons on the outside for central locking/alarm functions

is your car the v8 i.e m60 motor or is it the i6 m30 motor?
i myself bought a 730i week before last. but its a 1994 model (built 08/1993)

i struggled to get my whatchamacallit working but eventually got it right.

do u have the rearview mirror? the one with the little eye in it ?

i eventually got my key working.
