Red steering wheel

Hi guys. Today went to the mall. Spent about 3hours inside. Get back to the car and a red steering wheel with a lock pops on dash. Car starts fine and power steering works. Any ideas please. Thanks guys.

Thanks I had a look at that site. All it says is malfunctioning steering lock. But I drove home from the mall all perfect. So is it just a sticky switch or what? Read on some forums the steering column might have to be changed.

Lol. Ok here's what i done. Disconnected the battery for awhile. Connected it back. Set the dash time. And voila dreaded red steering wheel gone. Seems was just the low voltage. The terminals where slightly loose. Funny thou the radio settings didn't go out. All settings still intact.

Guys. I disconnected the battery and left it off for a while. Error seems to be gone and all is good again.

Get your battery and alternator tested anyway

Thanks the car is booked on Thursday for a service. I'll get the guts to check those too. Just glad I didn't have to swop out the steering column.
