Ok, here goes...

A Stolen recovery vehicle stays code 2, but obviously the car has to go for saps clearance and a new roadworthy certificate.

At the saps clearance, they will check the VIN, engine, and licence of the car, to see if it all matches up. If for some reason any of the numbers are unclear or filed off, then they have 2 options.

1. scrap the car, impound it, and compact it.
2. stamp a new number on the shock tower, and give you the clearance paperwork.

When you have that, you will have to take the car for a new roadworthy certificate. This can be done by any of the testing stations, government or privately owned, like DEKRA for one.

Once you have these forms, you can go to the licencing office, and have the car registered. :thumb:

Before buying a stolen and recovered car get a quote for insurance.

About 5 years ago I wanted to buy one and the insurance was going to cost double that of a non stolen and recovered vehicle.

And they only pay out 60 - 70% of the value
