Recommended Diesel Supplier E53 Diesel.

I am the proud owner of an immuculate BMW X5, E53, 2003, 3.0D.

Just curious to hear what everyone suggests as I cannot get any answers from google.
Can anyone recommend which Fuel Supplier is the best for my car?
Shell?
Engen?
BP?
Caltex?
Total?
Astron?

This is like asking how long is a piece of string, as most people have had different experiences with the various brands out there. Personally, I prefer Sasol ULS as I found my motor idles smoother with it. Alternatively, I use Engen when Sasol is not available, I don't feel any difference in performance except for the motor running a bit more rough with the Engen.

Thank you for your reply. I personally also feel Sasol is great, only slag is that Sasol fuels burns up quicker but is a cleaner substance though.

Hi

With an older diesel motor, they may not be so sensitive to different diesel brands.

Based on my experience, my older diesel vehicles performed well on all brands. Only the newer generation motors showed differences - Sasol generally better.

I use Caltex/Astron for my car as I found the garage I go to is the cheapest I've seen so far for 50ppm.

my local sasol is cheaper by almost R1 for 10ppm compared to the others selling 50ppm

I recently did some work for one of the big oil companies and interestingly the majority of diesel sold in the Gauteng region comes from Sasol, making it 10ppm. It’s not marketed as 10ppm as for small amounts it’s supplemented with imported 50ppm (sometimes 10ppm is also imported). They still mix in their own additives though not sure how much of a difference this truly makes.
