Good day my fellow fanatics.
All the best for the new year.
So i recently had my E46 318i motor rebuilt, reason for that, piston rings were gone and car smoked more than Snoop Dogg.
Components that were replaced as follows :
* New Pistons - cylinder 3 scorched very bad
* All Gaskets replaced
* New Valve Stem Seals
* New Oil Pump
* New Water Pump
* New Clutch kit(Previous clutch plate was smoother than a baby's bottom)
* And some panelbeating(don't ask)
what i would like to know is if there is any break in processes that need to be followed and what it is. read mostly that you should basically nurse car back to it's full potential. I can try and do that, but with a BMW, that is a bit difficult.https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/images/smilies/2014/hammerhead.gif
how should car be driven to preserve the longevity on the freshly built motor. Is a Oil service necessary to get all the other gunk out & after how many km's should i do that.
sorry for the long new year post. But you guys on this forum are awesome with all your insights.
Thank you,
Raygon
