Rear knock when selecting gears

Hi all, i have a 2007 320d auto and it still in for repairs (as per my other thread) They have replaced the gearbox but ever since then when i go from reverse to drive the car shudders forward and there is a knock at the back wheels... Why is this???? Can anyone please help cause the dealerships cant find a problem..... And they have had my car for 10 weeks already!!!!! :argh:

Sounds to me very much like an alignment problem, maybe alignment of the propshaft, could also be a worn/ faulty propshaft coupler.

thanks Jandre.... the confusing part is that this problem was never there before. Only since they have put in the new box has the problem started

I'm guessing its either a bolt they did not put back, or the exhaust is knocking against something.

Could very well be something as simple as alignment. Unfortunately most of the BMW dealerships just have fitters rather than mechanics.
