Rear electrioc Window not working

So this is one of the last things i need to get sorted out. The left rear window doesn't want to move. You get a click front the motor if you want to drop the window. I had the door card off yesterday for a look and I found nothing obvious. Cables are slack so the glass is not jammed and cables are in their runs. It strikes me the motor is kaput!!

Anyone know what is going on or had something similar?

I replaced my E30's door with a door that has an electric window. At first I thought it was busted too, but I could also hear the motor trying. After putting a hand on each side of the window (Inside and out) and pulling up and down, and then banging slightly against the insides with my fist it suddenly came loose.

But without seeing yours up close it's hard to say what the issue may be. Is there a way to open the window manually with an allen key or something?? It could just be stuck from being closed for a long period of time. My 540's rear windows would make a cluck noise if I haven't opened them for some time as they get stuck against the rubber seals. So I've started to open them more regularly just to prevent that.

Good point, they usually have a manual winder somewhere.

:biglol:

I cannot stop laughing.

Went down to give it a last look before reasembling and living with a stuck window for a while... but decided to give it a couple shots with a hammer first.

Now it works perfectly!!!

How slack are the cables? There should be tention on all the cables.

Like Nic said, pry the rubbers from the glass (wet slightly if needed) to make sure the rubber is not grabbing it.

I think the motor was jammed. Cables were not moving at all and had reasonable slack on them. If the motor was trying to move and the window was stuck I would have seen some tightening of the cables.

I whacked the motor with a mallet while i tried the window switch back and forth.

Now it works smoothly, no sticking or hesitation

The window guide rubbers might be clamping the glass, take some aerosol silicone spray and spray it down the channel rubbers, then try and lift the glass up with hands in and outside while helper flicks the window swich.
The silicone aerosol spray can be replaced with aerosols like cockpit pray.
The silicon spray can do no harm, overspray can be wiped off the glass with soft cloth / rag

If you cannot fix it with bloudraad, pliers or a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. :)
